Hello, I have used this one as a response in a different topic - but I received some infromation that there may be some people who could find this tutorial useful (tutorial - too much a word for this one, really...). I hope everything below is clear. And now: My Opinion: this way gives you greatest flexibility. Size and shape of klaws are no longer a problem - you can easily experiment with that method: fat dual klaw?, wolverine style? three blades up and three bottom? no problem. Additionally it is very easy to scale the weapon and keep control over that scaling. So let me quote myself: boredbeard wrote: (...) You can easily do a very nice power klaw by yourself. You will need only a strip of 1mm plasticard/styrene. First draw yourself a outline of powerklaw. Essentially you can find three pieces on the outline: (No. 1 on the drawing) - upper blade - lower blade - gauntlet (No's. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7) Copy these 7 times. 4x gauntlet, 2x upper blade and 1x lower blade. Glue it together. Orkify and voila. (...) And that was my first one (Nob body just for ref): You can see the layers. And it is without hydraulics, cabling, glyphs and spiky bits. ( I've drilled the back of PK, and inserted a tube - to have it nicely mounted to ork arm ... BTW) Cheers I hope you find it useful. Cheers. Automatically Appended Next Post: Just for your info guys. Modelled klaw. I think that is enough. (zoomable version is in my gallery) Cheers.

Not to be rude, but I don't understand why you would want to strach build when you can get Official claws for about £2 online.

Relax, sing your life. You are not rude at all.
If someone use info from this quick tutorial, that is ok, if not - it is still fine with me.
I just enjoy building things like that. That's it. Nothing more.
Choice and difference between official GW and scratch build stuff is quite relative IMHO. We could ask all scratch builders why they put their time in building stuff instead of buying prepared sets... Also, I believe that cost is the smallest factor here.
Sheet of plasticard or styrene, is much less than 2 quid and this kind of project done by yourself is much quicker than posting service.
Cheers

Nice tutorial, it's a shame I've already converted my Biker Boss. I can see this being useful for creating absurdly large Power Klaws that are completely impractical unless you're an Ork.

Nice tutorial... a very easy thing to pull off. So strange how easy some of this stuff is to do when you put your mind to it. Solid look. I like the finished product you showed with all the little additions... I don't even know where to find plasticard like this... would Michaels have it? Is it called plasticard?

I would recommend going to Lowe's or Home Depot instead. You can buy a No Parking sign for about $5 which is a great source of plasticard. This is what I build vehicles out of now. Plastic Cement sticks just fine whether on the print or not.

If the plastic for sale signs are not thick enough just laminate them.Super glue will be the best laminating adhesive .Varying gauges of soldering wire works best for power klaw tubing.Kudos boredbeard ,some folks like individuality and Orks are the best for this.Keep the faith brother.

Guys,
For your info:
I am getting my styrene (plastic) tubing from this ebay supplier - wehonest_cn (separate shops for UK ebay and US ebay)
I have ordered few times from them - no parcel probs whatsoever.
IMO this is best money for value:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/60-pcs-Assorted-size-Styrene-ABS-pole-Rod-Pipes-and-Square-Sections-500mm-x-60-/400317159588?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item5d34c318a4
And for sheet material, check ebay for styrene sheet and plasticard. you can easily find cheap bundle. For me 1mm and .5 mm (thickness) is the best ;]
Ouze mentioned "No Parking" sign - really good choice of material for creating basic structures, altough I use scraps and leftovers from nearby ad agency. These come free as soon as you come to their office with hot coffe and ask for permission to dig through scrap and cutoff bin
Cheers

Because buying the 'official' klaw gets you a klaw that looks exactly the same as everyone else's 'official' klaw...

Because £2 + delivery is 17£. See, not every single person lives in GB or USA. Besides, it's fun to make your own stuff.
