Subject: Aegis of Defence Line giving Enemy cover saves.

I know this has been brought up a lot, but the answers were not really what I am looking for so I'm posting this so that me and my opponent can understand better of how the line works in terms of giving cover saves.
The following is my interpretation:
Cover saves: Any model that is being obscured by ANY piece of terrain( aka. including the Aegis ) by 25% gets a corresponding cover save to the type.
Aegis Defence Line:
*In addition, my opponent assumed that an Aegis Defence Line has a front and back and that defines what is "BEHIND" the line, which I disagree. (Anyone feel free to add on this )
4 Cases all shooting from one side to the other, same level without any levitation.
Case 1: Shooting unit touching the wall, enemy units far.
In this case, the targetted unit do not have any cover saves as I am drawing TLOS through the slits and over the line which does not obscure any part of the model.
Case 2: Shooting unit touching the wall, enemy units touching the wall.
In this case, the targetted unit is touching the wall hence even through a slit the enemy unit is being obscured. Similar to how you look through a door hole and would only see a guy's face if not for the fish lens.
Case 3: Shooting unit far away from the line, and the enemy is far away<-- Most concerned case
In this case, the "SHOOTING" unit will have to see if the line is obscuring the model by 25% from TLOS, if it is then it gets a cover save.
Case 4: Shooting unit are far away from the line, enemy unit touching the wall
Same as Case 2, as it is almost guaranteed 25% obscured from the line. Excluding really rare cases.

Your interpretation is correct.
As far as your cases, its all dependent on if the enemy is obscured from a models eye view. Which we cannot answer here because we can't get down and look.
The answer with cover that isn't area terrain is always "get down and look".

Between Case 1 and 2, you could make an argument for 2, but I have (literally) never seen anyone play it that way. Everyone I know (and have ever seen) plays it according to Case 1.
Case 3 is correct. (So is 4, since they don't seem really contradictory.)

Yeah, I messed up the name of the case, but the description should be correct.
Also, the Aegis does not have a "FRONT" and "BACK" correct?

You would actually need to do this in all 4 of your 'cases'.
The rules make no provision for models touching the wall to ignore the usual rules for drawing LOS. If a model right up against the wall can't see over it or through a firing slit from their current position, they can't draw LOS.
Assuming that models against the ADL can draw free and unobstructed LOS over it seems to be a reasonably common house rule, but is not actually how the rules currently stand. Automatically Appended Next Post: And no, rules-wise there is no defined 'front' or 'back'.

Nope, no front or back. I love podding in and using my enemy's Aegis.
