Hi

Im fed up with how insanely hard it is to find plasticard and/or the plastic tubings/rods (same material i think). I have gone through several dozen major art stores in my area and the closest i find is more of a board than card or foamboard - both of which noooo way lol.

Anyone order this stuff online? Even if its international i really dont care but it needs to ship to america (some websites dont ive noticed sadly)

I wouldn't expect many art and/or craft stores to carry styrene, honestly. Hobby shops, however, which cater more specifically to modelers (model RR, R/C, rockets, slot cars, etc.), usually have at least a rack of sheet, rod, and tube from one of the two major suppliers (Evergreen and Plastruct). If you prefer to (or must) order online, their are dozens upon dozens of Ebay stores (again, catering to modelers) with a wide selection, as well as electronic storefronts for brick and mortar shops. Searching for either brand name should give you more than a few options.

This is an Ebay store that I have used in the past

OmniModels..
and yes hardware stores and RC/Modelling/Model Railroad Hobby Stores are much better than art craft stores for the products we need

Dick Blick carries it:

You can also find coupons to their store, as they're one of the larger suppliers. I lucked out apparently - they have a big store in Philly.

Plastruct and Evergreen, two of the biggest manufacturers are in the US. You can find those most everywhere, almost every hobby shop will have a rack of one or the other...and sometimes both. Online hobby stores will also carry those two brands as well...places like Hobby Linc to name one off the top of my head.

For bulk sheet stock, you have companies like US Plastics who sell it in a variety of thicknesses and in huge sheets for dirt cheap (look for sheet styrene). For specialty sheets, you have Applied Imagination and JTT Microscale.

You should have little problem finding suppliers for all of those, or even ordering direct as well.

Amazon has larger sheets of various thicknesses, search "styrene sheet"

they also have shapes, but when I last looked, my local hobby store had a much better selection

+1 for plastruct and evergreen. I find evergreen to be more expensive though. Plasticard is dirt cheap... at least so long as it's not textured or pre-fabricated into something. Stairs and ladders and diamond plate, brick patterns.... i think you'll find them a bit pricier.

I order in bulk (i.e. one big sheet) from US Plastic.

The prices are insanely cheap comparativly....but not everyone needs a 3'x6' sheet of plastic...

When Blick is having a sale, I throw some into the cart. They have good hobby-sized sheets in well priced packs. Estreetplastics.com has the thinner sheets that usplastics doesn't tend to have, and last I checked their prices are right with usplastics or a bit better.
