Drop Trooper with Demo Charge

I have recently bought and stripped around 50 old monopose marines.
I had in mind to just paint them in the Iron hands scheme, but now I want to see if I can't do a few bionic conversions.
I do how ever not know how I am going to do this, therefore I need suggestions on how I could convert them, along with tips on which materials I might need.
I would like to try and convert other parts, even though it looks like the legs are the only parts that really seam convertible.
Below is a picture of some of the models, but there are a lot more.

Your only options I see are replacing heads and legs. I remeber the arms being a bloody pain just by themselves. You can also use GS on the faces to add bionics. I think this is the only generation of space marines ever created that are simply ghastly. Which is a darn shame, because I like their variant equipment.

It doesn't matter how bloody far the apple falls from the tree. If the apple fell off of a Granny Smith, that apple is going to grow into a Granny bloody Smith. The only difference is whether that apple grows in the shade of the tree it fell from. |

How experienced are you as a converter? And how much money will you invest?
There are a few third party producers of bionics and GW and Forgeworld also have some bionic sets.
If yon have the money cutting them into spare parts to replace those legs might be an option.
Or buy a few of those sets from anvil industry. They are already in pieces and have a bunch of additional parts to replace stoff on your models.

Or if you want to convert them maybe this can help you:
http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/195209-bionics-how-i-do-it/
And you might get away with drilling an carving parts of the model away (like the torsos and use rods and GS to create some mechanical looking interiour.
And if you have decent sculpting skills you could create your own bionics out of wires, plastic rods and GS like i did with them:

I have a fair amount of experience with converting, however I have never used guitar strings before. and I have a bit of a hard time getting decent smooth surfaced with GS. perhaps you can give some tips on that? I'm willing to spend some money on the models, but I don't want to but bionic parts, I wan't to enjoy making my own, after all it's a big part of the hobby

The simple tip for smooth GS is to use lubrication on your tools so that they don't stick to the GS that much. Water, saliva, oils or vaseline are all possible candidates with different pros and cons.
Personally i lick my tools. But just a wet cloth to press the tools onto can work too.
And also if you give GS enough time to cure (at least a day or so) it can be sanded with a fine grit sandpaper.

Wow a whole day? I usually don't wait that long. and I normally use water with my GS, but I doesn't really feel like it help that much.
Although my current package of green stuff is over 2 years old.

I just took two stabs at some Bionics, the one to the left on the first picture isn't done yet though.
I still need to figure out how to make some Bionics for their heads.

close. Take the replaced leg, add one more strip down the middle of the knee joint, and see about adding studs to the armor covering the bionics.
