So i was working on my dread and looking through some sprues for some trinkets when suddenly i started glueing things together.
this is hat I ended up with party marine
Then i got a great idea, looked through the bits again and ended up with this, looks pretty neat for random throwing things together!
Idk what to use it for maybe replace an HQ with it just for cosmetics.

The pauldrons look terrible, you really need to make them fancier, either with thicker protruding rims, or the ablative champion pauldron, or studs. There is something satisfyingly brutal about the model though. I recommend swapping out the powerplant wholesale, or just the exhaust vanes for something that "goes to 11". Would have been nifty if you could have gotten a decent sized bolter mounted on... If you're going to do it, I suggest using a bolt pistol with let feed, everything else might be overkill.

I was actually thinking of mounting the dreadnought CCW-bolterr under his right, marneus calgar style. I don't know what to do with the power plant though
He does look massive indeed!

Cool model.
A few interesting ideas for pimping him out even more.
Shoulders:
The shoulders from warriors of chaos (i think marauders) can go over SM shoulders without much conversion and can bulk them out even more. And most bits shops should have those shoulders.
You can see one possible configuration on one of my chaos models:
Backpack:
If you trust your cponversion skills you could cut the backpack in quarters and add plasticard to bulk it out in both height and width.
Another idea is cutting away the exhaust vents and replace them with something else. I used those chaos gargoyles with removed spikes for that. But i did build a wyvern inspired chapter and those could be interpreted as dragon heads.
Of just replace it with the iperial eagle backpack of the commander box.
Cloak:
He would look even more awesome with a cloak. With his sword and a cloak he would look like a knight even more. But you probably have to convert your own cloak as he is larger than normal models due to the terminator legs.

Cool idea! i defenitly feel like the pauldrons sholud be bulked up, i have spare backpacks so i'll just remove the current one and just try it, even if it would fail ill probably learn from it!
A cloak is awesome, maybe ill make it like the robes of the pre herresy dark angels, should be cool!
Btw, how cool is that flameberge sword ithe DA in the back is wielding!

I agree the cloak in the artwork looks great but you'll have to convert your own especially if it should go over the shoulders. This tutorial is quite usefull for that: http://www.fromthewarp.blogspot.de/2012/06/how-to-sculpt-greenstuff-cloaks-and.html
I've done something similar. Just use some plasticard or other sturdy material and cut it into shape so that i sits directly on or below the shoulders. I didn't attach it so i could sculpt both sides. Then after gluing i just added the parts going over the shoulders. But be carefull not to overdo it or you will have problems attaching the backpack over the cloak. (I made that error and had to rework the attachment point as you can see.)
Here is the resulting cloak.
Btw despite beeing a nice twohander the sword in the background isn't a flamberge. A flamberge is a twohanded sword with a mottled blade. (I hope mottled is the right word)

I will use plasticcard to create surfaces to sculpt on, ive made a few cloaks up untill now and without it it just takes huge amounts of GS or it will be thin and flimsy!
I did do it this way on my dread (im a cloth fan allright! ) but just becayse i can take it off and carry it in a seperate, safer, box.
The reason i related it to the flamberge was because of the 2 grips, idk the word for it though!

If you like the pure GS cloaks you could try and add another harder cureing putty into it. I mix milliput standard into my GS to make it cure harder.

Did my Marneus Power Armor the same way. Used the captain Kit with eagle back pack since its showier. For the shoulder pads i used some terminator groin bits on the pad (providing the 4++ save) and trimmed up some bolt pistols to make his guns.
Obvious a new head (matching my theme) and I do want to replace the sword with a Katana one day...but for now.
If you want to do something different with the pack, for my Vulkan i used the Chaos dragon head gun muzzles and an exacto knife. (yeah, the GS cloak is pretty bad...I'll have to do something better whenever i rebuild him).

The sword in the artwork is more likely based along the lines of an earlier Zweihander (Literally 'double-hander' in German). Flamberge (or Flammenschwert in German) are more commonly associated with the later Gothic period Landsknecht mercenaries of the late 16th Century, although this was really just a more decorative development of their use of Zweihanders. Whilst still de facto a Gothic styled blade, they seem to lean more towards a decorative purpose rather than being functional (Although, it is said that the Flammenschwert had an interesting propensity to vibrate upon contact, transferring severe vibrations into the adversaries arm).
Impromptu history lesson over, depending on the style your going for backpack wise you can always dig into Lizardmen bits. As I say, it all depends on the theme you're heading for, but the heads from Lizardmen make great gargoyle styled backpack vents. That said, I suppose a range of Warhammer bits could be used seeing as they have a wide range of creatures...

if the backpack is still removable, and you can't get the backpack and shoulders to fit for whatever reason, nip off the nub on the torso's powerplant jack, and add a layer or two of plasticard. It's always solved the problem for me.
