So I combined the water and glue and must of put too much water. Because after i covered the board with the glue and put on the flock and dry, the flock is now coming off just by barely moving a model, the models and the bases and the table the board is on and the ground around the table is now littered with flock. I still have plenty on the board but its evident that something i did went wrong.

So my question is how do i fix this? i was thinking of taking a brush to the board and trying to get off as much of the flock and then trying to re glue it again but with more glue to water ratio. or a buddy suggested to me, just take a can of spray adhesive and spray the board. it should hold it all together...(maybe). My only issue with that is that it seems kinda permanent so if it doesn't work or goes wrong it would be hard to "fix". So im pleading for some help or solutions. Thanks

The spray adhesive idea was my first thought as well. I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work.

Well spray some purple power on that board for like 10min then scrub it off. shouldn't harm a thing.

as for flocking a board. are you static grassing?

static grass will shed forever on just about anything.

if your worried about the the spray adhesive, tape off an area on the back side of the board and try it there.

let it set for a day and try to "play" on it for a bit (roll some dice move some models across (metal and plastic))

let us know how it goes.

If you want to keep it as is just scary it with a mat clear coat. It should help seal this in. If you don't want to do that put a mixture of white glue and water (it has to be pretty watery) and spray the board with it.

Static grass. And I'm worried spray adhesive will add a gloss effect or just look crappy. And what's purple powder? I like he mixture of water and glue but that's basically spray adhesive but hopefully not as glossy when dried.

Purple power is a detergent if you want to start over again.

You could always try undiluted glue.

If I use purple powder can I salvage the static grass or is it just a safe way to restart and just be down the cost of the grass rather than the board?

And undiluted glue just brush over static grass or use after "restart"?

I would make another batch of the glue water mixture at a 3/1 ratio. Put it in a spray bottle make sure its thin enough to go through it, like 3/1 ratio I said previous and spray the whole board again and then let it sit for a day. Then get MATT spray and do the whole thing and then let it sit for a day. This is what we have done on ours at the store I work for and it has done great even with high traffic on them. Good luck sir

If you used GW static grass, I see your problem, because it's an expensive one. Got get grass from an FLGS next time that carries generic stuff, like woodland scenics. GF9 is pretty expensive, but still cheaper compared against citadel.

Flock pretty much always sheds if you put it on a board and then move models around on it. It only works well on the top of bases where it doesn't get touched.

If you adopt the technique suggested by Farseer Jenkins, it will fix down the flock very well, though it will turn it more or less into a hard texture. I mean you won't get a "fluffy" effect at the end.

For future reference, if you want to texture a board, I would do it with sand mixed into PVA glue, painted and dry-brushed.

Yeah I'll try that far seer Jenkins. But what's Matt spray? Sorry new to this kinda stuff. And just some Elmer's glue or pva glue (the 3/1 mixture)

Are you using him for a test subject? LOL!

I agree let us know how it goes with that spray adhesive, I have a whole can of it and I was afraid to use it, I tested an area on another board but using it on a game store's modular table kept me from actually using it.

Clear coat spray paint with a matt finish, not a gloss. Matt just means there's no shine to it when it dries

If all else fails, cover it with a layer of sand or gravel instead.

Update: So tried a little corner with spray adhesive, sadly... doesnt work. I let it dry for about 3 days and it was still sticky on the surface... Tried to take a wet rag and sort of wash away the sticky surface and still didnt work. So i went and bought some rustoleoum clear matte spray paint. And so far after about 30 minutes of drying it looks perfect and shinny effect and grass still looks just as good. Will try a whole board rather than a corner and will see how it works.

I usually add a small drop of dishwashing liquid to the glue-water mix to help with it actually coating and FILLING airbubbles (rather than just going over them.

When it dries, it tends to lock all the scatters together into one sheet, works well for sand (essentially becomes as hard as concrete).

There is a type of spray adhesive that is re-positionable. It creates a glue layer a bit like a postit note so the artist can take up and move bits of artwork.
