So... this is the "internets" that all of you have told me about...

This is the blorg on which I will post my jaw-dropping, awe-inspiring painting and modeling. Wear your diapers, gentlemen. Prepare yourselves for my greatness.

A few ground rules:

1. Not interested in GW hate. I can read any other post anywhere else here and get that garbage. I have worked for GW before. They have paid my rent and offered me healthcare. They can charge what they want for their products and I say, let the market decide.

2. Ice says you are pretty cool, so I don't need a second rule. This will be a place-holder for when I do.

3. GROWL!

A short history of my hobby career:

I have been into this hobby for going on 2 decades now. My main army is Space Wolves and has been since I saw one and bought the first Space Wolf codex (the first ever Codex, btw). I also have Warhammer FB Empire painted as Altdorf and Witch Hunters. I have an Executioners old school camo pattern Space Marine army I play once a year with the Wardens of the Maelstrom (you may have heard of them...). I have a burgeoning force of my own chapter of Space Marines called The Emperor's Fools. They are pink and yellow quartered. The impetus for this was because my 2 favorite colors are pink and yellow, I like how quartered marines look, and, apparently, I am a painting masochist. I have some embarrassingly badly painted Necromunda gangs. I also have a ridiculous amount of Warmachine Menoth and a small contingent of Cygnar. I am also a contributor to my and IceAngel's Space Ork WAAAAAGH!!! I also just randomly buy and paint any model that strikes my fancy.

So, without further ado, I will post a WIP of my new Model Emperor's Fools. I used a white undercoat and this made all the difference. I spent approx. 15 years without ever considering using a white undercoat, because in the early 90s when I started painting that was the du jour way to do it. In the early 90s I sucked at painting and it seems convenient enough to blame white undercoating. I would have 3 totally finished ones to show you, but Ice left his camera at someone else's house. And yes, the pictures were taken by him. And yes, I am posting this from his computer. Baby steps.

About the "without further ado" thing. Apparently that was as lie.

WITNESS AND WEEP! FOR ALL SHALL FEAR THE EMPEROR'S FOOLS! WE CAPER AND JEST FOR HIS AMUSEMENT!

so you are the mysterious "moonpie" IceAngel speaks of. Welcome.

I particularly like the "shiny" look the armour has, with the painted on glares. I don't see that very often.

I have added a chapter symbol and squad iconography. I also experimented with the Krylon spray matte. I like it. I need it for the base and the shoulder pad. I use a transfer that I paint over, so I ardcoated that and ardcoated the base ring, because the black kept rubbing off and looking godawful.

I have 2 more done. 2 more I have finished base-coating the armor on.

re: nobody- Yes. I do exist. I like to highlight up as high as possible. That usually being white. I even highlight my Wolves up to white. I'll get Ice to take pictures of my better ones.

Re: All welcomes - Thanks!

Welcome to DakkaDakka! And now for the obligatory "have you thought about drilling that barrel?" and "you missed a mold line on the right side of the helmet". Some of the paint might be a little bit thick, but the neatness is spot on, the overall effect is great and the colour scheme is original without being jarring - and challenging (yellow, pink and quartered!) to boot - so kudos for that! I imagine they look awesome all laid out together. Looking forward to seeing more of you past and future work.

At long last you have started the journey towards the modern day

The Emperor's Fool looks great. I find it unusual to highlight so far (especially with white), but as Nobody mentioned it does add a particularly shiny appearance.

I used to use Krylon Matte, and it is passable for the most part. Recently, though, I got a pair of bad cans that had more of a satin finish than flat. I've since switched exclusively to Testors Dullcote. I find that the finish is beautifully flat, and I've not had a bad can yet. Its a bit more expensive than Krylon, but I find the results are far superior.

Im definitely looking forward to seeing some more of your stuff. Sounds like you've a lot to show!

Maybe one day we'll get you internet of your very own

Thanks for the advice on the DullCote, Ramos. I like highlighting to white and with white when I can, because I think it is pretty and because if you add white it means more light hits it in my head. It's one of those tricks I have devised for myself. Sort of like asking other people if this color goes with that.

Fett-I want that cake. I don't even like cake, but I want to eat that now.

Git- "Oh wow! Git talked to you! Wow! He's like famous!" All the other girls are jealous of me now.

Feasible- Prepare yourself for more quoteworthy quotiness. I am full of it, being endowed of natural charisma, unabashed charm, and the greatest wit of my generation..

Now what was Git saying about attitude?

Nah, that's my fault Chelnov. I wanted to give moonpie a bump on my blog to generate some traffic for him and because of the way the Dakka engines work, both blogs generated front page appearances.

Cool figure though, so I don't see the harm.

I got Git on the front page!

Yeah, Tigerstein, I think I am a masochist. It isn't an easy scheme.

I have got 5 marines in the squad painted up. I have the other 5 built.

I'll have to get more pics taken. I need Ice's help with that. Apparently just staring at the minis and thinking positive thoughts doesn't get them uploaded to the interwebs.

I'd like to maybe show off some Fantasy stuff. If you look at Ice's Apocalypse battle pics-those are my Space Wolves. I'll get him to help me out. He's a chum like that.
