Very interesting, I wish you go farther into the article.

I run a count as Eldar army with old Warzone miniatures and sometimes I find that people can't think outside the box even if things are consistent and clear no matter how many times you explain the army and even if you supply an army list for them. A "those girls with wings are Swooping Hawks" seems too difficult to shallow for some as the figures are clearly no GW so (in their minds) not suitable for 40K play.

Jenkins: You don't have jurisdiction here!
Smith Jamison: We aren't here, which means when we open up on you and shred your bodies with automatic fire then this will never have happened.

About the Clans: "Those brief outbursts of sense can't hold back the wave of sibko bred, over hormoned sociopaths that they crank out though."

I'm in firm agreement. If it is representative, conforms to the standard ruleset, and doesn't provide some crazy modeling for advantage, please use it. In the article example, I can't think of any reason Iron Warriors can't have a Slaaneshi banner. The model being a comms relay just adds flavor. I would only object if you start bringing home brew rules.

Now, if you tell me smashy there has a lascannon/missile launcher combo, its starting down a more annoying path. I look at him and see "close combat armed monster", which does adequately describe a mauler or demon prince. Keep what you are fielding as close to that image, and I'd be thrilled to meet your army on the table.
