So the way I read it is that Thousand Sons have 2W and the champ/sorcerer leading them has 1W.  If I fail an armour save and lose 1 wound, I'm assuming I need to remove the sorcerer because I must remove whole models when possible.

Is this correct?  (And if so, Ouch! :S )

Thanks,

Gorthrax

Right-e-o.

But look on the bright side, an army with two wounds has a lot going for it...

It's technically correct, but not intended.

That is of course that you are assuming that the sorceror is a "whole multi-wound model", oh wait...

There's an FAQ somewhere that says, basically, "oops - you don't have to remove that one-wound model!" but I can't direct you to where that is.

Actually, no, the requirement to take whole models only applies when wounds are assigned to multiple wound models -- when the wound comes in, you have the choice whether to assign it to the multiple wound models in the squad or the sorc. You aren't compelled to kill the sorc, even without the FAQ.

Yea I was under the impression that you can't "spread" wounds, but you don't have to remove 1-wound models first, since a 1 wound model isn't a multi-wound model the rule doesn't apply to it.

Party on, dudes.

Which is exactly what my sarcasm was meant to imply.

There's a weird case in the rules that lets you 'spread' wounds around, but requires an unusual unit setup -- if you have a model with 2/3 wounds and a model with 2/2 wounds (or whatever), if you have a single wound to assign you can put it on the unwounded model (as it's not possible to kill off either), but it's not something I would expect anyone to do in a game with a straight face.

I do suspect, though, that the rule not totally breaking Thousand Sons is entirely accidental.

Trust me, the only real rules issue you might have with a Thousand Sons unit, is assigning wounds in relation to Insta-death.

No, the 'must remove whole models' rule only kicks in when a multi-wound model in a unit with multiple multi-wound models takes a wound.

So normally, you never have to remove the AC until he's the last model to get removed.

Not as official as we'd like but probably good enough for darn near everyone.

My mistake, they did correct this in V4. So the sorcerer stays.
