Hey all,

I'm a huge fan of the wild west, there's just something awesome about that time period of America that I love. Well I was at a swap meet about a month ago and I picked up the Legends of the Old West, The Alamo: Victory or Death, Frontier: Blood on the Plains, and Showdown for 20 bucks. I was wondering if I got fleeced on the deal, or if I made out like a train robbing bandit?

Also if anyone has experience with the game, and how it plays, that'd be awesome as well.

If this isn't the forum for this GW game, let me know and I'll get a mod to move it.

Sounds like a good deal - I paid £25 for just the main rulebook off Ebay and I consider that to be a good deal - I have seen them go for much higher.

It's an awesome game by the way. It's on my list of games 'to do' for my Specialist Games blog. It's a lot of fun and plays very smoothly.

Were there semi-official figures for the game? Or would I be okay with just getting say generic western figures from some place like Blackwater Gulch or some bones figures from Reaper?

Nope, no figures were released as far as I know. The rulebook is a bit of an anomaly in that they pictured and credited non-GW figures and miniatures company. I think they recommended the Old Glory line. Personally, I got my Wild West figures from Black Scorpion who do a nice 'Tombstone' line.

If you got those for $20 a piece you made out like a train robbing bandit. If you got those all for $20 then the guy selling them to you didn't know what he had!

There is a dirth of Western figures on the market.

You can't fix stupid.

I got all of the books for 20 dollars, so what 5 bucks a book? The guy selling them likes Gutshot! better than these books and just wanted to be rid of them.

It plays a bit like a Historical Necromunda with less catwalks.

I believe they use a mix of models since Warhammer Historicals did not make any models. However, I seem to recall they used a lot of Foundry stuff.
