Got a game tomorrow, needed to throw together a list with the new codex. Some of it is new paint that needs to hit the table, with some other random stuff tossed in. I've not had a chance to field my Cassius conversion, so thought it might be a good time to try him. Just finished the extras to flesh out the bikes. I'm mixing specials because the plasma gunner is old and I don't feel like swapping him out for the new fangled toy. I've wanted to try out the hurricane ironclad for a while now, we'll see how he fares.

I like it. But why don't you put the ironclad in the Drop Pod and the tacts on the ground? That ironclad is never going to get anywhere, unless youre going to use it as a counter assault unit.

Also if your drop that rhino you can take some more Combis on your sternguard

If you change the rhino to a drop pod you can bring down stern and ironclad first turn. Then drop third pod empty and put that tac squad behind adl. Just a thought? You might not have the model for it tho?

The ironclad is there as a counter-charge support unit. I've used a AsC/DCCW(SB) regular dread for this before, and he's been useful. This is a test to see if the hurricane ironclad can fill the same role. So while he's taken a drop pod to battle before, he had both fists on then. I was thinking of scraping the points up to give him a pair of HKs, so he could impact the fight before our armies close, but thought I'd run him as-is for now.

I've never been a fan of the max combi sternguard squad. I thought it was to many points invested in the last codex, and with the price doubling, less so in this one. My one c-melta sternguard stands a decent change of being premanently re-assigned to a tactical squad as it's new sergeant. We'll see if he pulls his weight today.

I own a third pod, but it is still on the sprues. I'm not looking forward to assembling it, hated the first two. But there is a lot of power in a 3 pod list, so needs to happen eventually.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Personally, I feel that there are a lot of points in the tactical squads which should go elsewhere.

I'd put a vanguard in there and trim the tacticals to basic.
