So, what's the general consensus for the hair colour of Salamanders? I gather the old fluff (African toned skin) gave Salamanders white hair, but the new fluff (Obsidian black skin, red eyes) gives the Salamanders sort of red hair (Or many of Nick Kyme's characters have flame red hair. I personally like the comparison made between a fire themed chapter and feiry red hair, but I'm not so sure on whether red hair would complement the pitch black skin I've painted my Salamanders - it feels too Space Wolf-ish. So, does anybody have an example picture or method/tutorial on red hair for Salamanders? Alternatively, does anybody have another hair combo that works well with the obsidian black skin tone?

Bald...all of them are bald. At least that is how I painted mine. Too hot on that planet for hair

Well with the older fluff afrocaribean hairstyles would be cool, with the newer fluff however I dont think hair would suit other than a buzz cut, and then it would have to be a lighter tone than black to be visible

Hehe - I see what you're getting at. Too bad I've GS'ed hair on my Captain

Nick Kyme gives his Characters hair, and I hate the idea of Bald Marines (Custom Chapter perhaps? ) so I've got the hair. Only problem is - what colour?

EDIT: @Cookiesk8r - Too late for a buzz cut now dude, he's got GS'ed grizzeled long hair

How about an Ashen grey or a white or blond?

I like the idea of 'red' hair fluffwise, with them dyeing (and probably cutting) their hair to resemble flames. Although that might suggest they'd also paint their helmets in flame colours, which is not standard fluff.

While I do appreciate the help guys, I should clarify that I would like an actual method of painting said hair - or at least a pic and a list of colours. The hair cut is set I'm afraid - grizzled long hair, but I'm open to suggestions of colour.

Cheers mate! I had googled and found the first link you posted, but because it didn't have pictures (Picture books are my kinda reading level! - Jokes ) I was put off. The second link is great and I've saved it for future use, but it's not the shade I'm looking for at the moment. Thanks again.

EDIT: I also found the 3rd one as well - I pretty much opened up every link on the first google page.

I always thought salamanders looked best with black hair. Something like this.

@the shrouded lord - You can find that pic on deviant art (I've seen it before when google linked me there)

I've gone with a brown base-coat, Agrax Earthshade and I'm trying to mix up a suitably fiery red - thanks for all the help guys. I'm not ignoring the suggestions of black hair, but with the black generator, pauldrons and face not to mention the captains power swords I feel black hair will simply be the tipping point for it to go wrong. Many thanks all the same.

That photo genuinely scares me, looks like I've got a new profile pic.
