I'm toying with the idea of running an ADL with comms relay in an upcoming game where I'm going to have maybe 4 reserved units which ideally I'd like to have come in at the same time. I'd also be making use of the ADL cover for a heavy support unit.

However part of me says forget the comms relay and just spend the extra points to get the quad gun; an extra 4 twin-linked skyfire shots just seems attractive. And take my chances with the reserve rolls.

I've not actually used a comms relay before, are they generally worth it in this sort of situation over the quad gun (even though the gun is slightly more expensive)? Another consideration is that once the reserves are in the relay becomes redundant, but the quad gun could potentially be useful for a lot longer.

OK

Comms relays are extremely useful. I think more useful than quad guns in most cases. They are especially useful when you have units you WANT to keep in reserves, like cultists or grots.

Does the quad gun get a cover save from being behind the ADL as well as any infantry etc.?
