Subject: Would I be able to sell my army?

Hey guys...
I've got a bunch of space marines, orks, and chaos space marines. Most of them are painted, some of them aren't.
Basically I want to sell them or just get them off of my hands. Is there any way I can sell these? Or are there some criteria for selling 40k stuff? Is it best to sell it from here or on ebay or something?
Are there any unwritten rules for shipping 40k stuff as well? I'm just completely in the dark here about how people sell stuff, and I figured I'd ask here instead of the swap shop board because that board seems to be just postings for sales.
Thanks!

Do up an ad in the swap shop, with pics of everything, hosted from photobucket or wherever is convenient. Ask 50-75% of retail depending on condition, and check your pm's regularly.
Good luck!

Dakka's Swap Shop is a pretty decent place to offload your stuff. I've bought, sold, and traded games and models there pretty regularly. As for shipping, try to wrap each model individually in bubble wrap (cut out a square of it, tape it around the model) or ship them in carrying case foam if you're selling that too. eBay has a ton of 40k stuff for sale all day every day too.

In regards to shipping be sure to package the miniatures well. I buy and sell online a lot, and have encountered a number of frustrating situations where someone shipped me miniatures thrown into a box with little or no padded material. The end result was a pile of broken pieces and a lot of wasted time and money.
Invest in some bubble wrap, packing foam and good tape. You should be able to get enough to pack an army for around $15-20. Less if you can scavenge packing materials from work (not advocating stealing-ask before you take anything).
Wrap miniatures carefully in bubble wrap, and use foam or tissue to pad delicate parts like banners, weapons and limbs.
Here are some tutorials that may hlep.
This is a great Dakka guide to selling on eBay.
This is a tutorial for packaging toy dolls, but the principles can be applied to miniatures

unless his paint is good and worth preserving most people will just snip them up for bits and throw them into simple green anyway.
i think it is unreasonable to expect everything individually bubblewrapped unless the buyer is going to pay extra for that.
just wrap them in tissue and newspaper and you should be fine.

A few thoughts:
1) Armies go for less than individual models or squads of models. Where practical selling squads of warriors and loan heroes/monsters/large things is the best approach if you want maximum profit - if you sell a big army lot chances are it will go for less
2) Painting models lowers their potential value second hand unless the paint job is outstanding. Your average tabletop quality painting is likely to be stripped by most buyers.
3) Check out the postage prices and get accurate estimations (remember include packaging material in estimated posted costs). You want to give a fair price whilst at the same time ensuring that you're not out of pocket for postage.
4) When packing ensure models are securely and well packaged. You don't want damaged stock arriving.
5) Clear, well lit photos. At the very least try to avoid web-cams or other low grade cameras and take the photos in good light (dingy photos taken on a bad camera indoors are likely not to show what you're selling).
6) If you've anything rare/special/converted or painted to high grade then consider looking at what similar models go for and getting an idea of a rough reserve price - anything really good you want to ensure starts with a good opening start amount or a good reserve price. You can also straight sell without the auction function
In general you will lose money selling (as is the same with most second hand goods). A few specific lines can sell for more because of rarity and looks; but in general you'll get less than new.
Ebay should give you no problems selling, if anything doesn't sell first time around check the title is good and try again.
Always be prompt with communication and post/process things quickly.

Ebay, Bartertown, Swap shop on this site.
All are viable options.
