I put together a plastic container + steel sheet storage container and magnetized the bases of my models. Works 100% fantastic.

Now I'm wondering what people do for carting around all their various detachable magnetic parts. For example, if you've got a tactical squad, chances are you've got a bunch of seperate magnetized arms to swap in for wysiwyg. These don't stick to the steel sheet. I could just toss them in a loose pile in a smaller container, but that seems like they'd be vulnerable to damage, scratching, scuffing etc. So - any clever ideas here? Maybe I'm overthinking it

I keep odd bits in a plastic card box, in layers, seperated by thin foam (from bister packs)

Not magnet based, but it works.

I haven't implemented it for a whole squad yet, but if you don't paint the inside of your rhinos (or even if you do), you can put several magnets along the benches and possibly walls to hold its squad's extra arms.

I use precut foam to store armies, so the options are stored in extra slots.

I am monitoring this thread, I would like a solution too since I"m about to magnetise my storage. Not a fan of foam.

I store my figures in a steel toolbox. Magnetized bits get stuck to the inside of the lid. For my pre-heresy Death Guard, I'll make myself a paper print out with labels of what goes where, and stick the bits on the appropriate area.

Ziplock bags for each type. A bag for dreadnought arms, a bag for rhino chassis options(pred/razorback), vehicle upgrades (storm bolters/hk missiles/multi meltas), IC gear (relics and weapons).

I like the ideas about metal plates to stick parts on. Wouldnt know where to stick them inside my armytransport bag though.

I use ziplock bags for my spare magnetized parts as well.

Not all parts have two magnets locking them into position on a flat surface, so using the magnets themselves to keep them put isn't going to work reliably. Since cans or sheets will be more bulky and won't keep the parts from contacting each other, I prefer ziplock bags, which also keep the bits split between different types or models.

I just toss all the magnetized arms/guns/etc into a ziplock baggie. one bag for tac squad stuff, another pile for vehicle stuff, etc. most of it's so tiny that they don't have enough mass to do damage to the other bits. plus, I varnish everything anyway, so scratches aren't a concern for me.

Another strip of metal glued in, or another smaller box that fits in the bigger box, labeled in big letters, with a backwards r's and a keep-out sign painted or stapled on: ARMERRY!. Glue dead orks around it for added effect.

Really, a small metal tin or a strip glued on or bolted on will do the trick. If the parts are magnetized, clip them onto the armory. If you're OCD, then, take spare torsos/bitreceivers, and glue ferromagnetic material to the connection points, and paint it up. Like a mannequin.
