Hello,

I'm putting together my rhino with removable hatches, turrets, etc, and am planning to use magnets for them.

I have the magnets, but now am looking for metal I can use to "stick" to them... i know most people use 2 opposing magnets, but it's too hard to drill a hole for me in the small pieces so I was planning to glue a thin piece of metal on them. Anyone know of easily accessible metal that can be used for this?

Thanks!

Moore, Ok.

what about using thin flat "sheet" magnets?
i've seen something similar in Wal-Mart's craft section.

Thanks for the tip...i just tried it, but unfortuantely, it doesn't stick very well with the sheet magnets i grabbed off the fridge.

seems that the rare earth mags only stick well to each other or plain ferrous metals...

Do you have a construction site or lumber yard nearby? Building materials are bound together by bands of steel for transport, you should be able snag a few pieces from the trash. Just cut the steel into little squares with some heavy duty snips and glue in place.

I bought the cheapest piece of steel duct I could find at Home Depot.  'Bout $3 and should last me approximately forever.  I don't have tin snips and so use my dremel to cut it instead.
