Two part question:

Which Imperial Guard vehicles do you never see make it to the tabletop that you wish you did (Normal 40k)? Why are they so rare in your opinion?

Which Imperial Guard vehicle (Minus Vendetta) do you feel is always worth its points/never disappoints? If Leman Russ, which variant?

Marauder Destroyer, because it is the single most beautiful model ever created by GW and should be used in every game. It is so rare because filthy heretics insist on the blasphemy that is "no Marauder Destroyers unless we're playing Apocalypse".

Vulture gunship with punisher cannons. Kills infantry, kills tanks, and does it for dirt cheap. What else could you ask for?

So the CRASSUS ARMOURED ASSAULT TRANSPORT isn't a legitimate answer?

I've never seen the variants of the Basilisk (Medusa, Colossus, Griffon). I can only assume it's because the models are FW, and the rules aren't good enough to justify the expenditure.

I like a Scout Sentinel with a Heavy Flamer. Mine always seems to Outflank within range of something flammable, and they're really cheap points-wise.

If I were to ever play IG, I would always take a Vulture with Punishers. Question, are the Punishers TL, or two seperate Punishers?

probably should leave forgeworld talk for another thread...

I wish i could run more hellhound varients, but their damage output is just too meek. All the vanilla can do is kill things that are soft and squidy anyway, and the other two are just too short ranged.

I never regret bringing an executioner. Never.

1- Salamander scout/command vehicle. it got that Bren carrier feel to it.

2-leman russ, the basic one; big pie plate str8 Ap3 good armour, it's not flashy or edgy, but it's a solid, reliable workhorse and it'll never let you down.

Definitely the Punisher-Vulture for "never regret taking one".

Best use for a Gyphon is as a spotter in a Basilisk squadron to take care of those pesky 'minimum range' issues.

DeathStrike Missiles. Only used one 3 times outside of Apoc and he made his points and then some when he nuked a whole army of elder trying to walk around a wall toward me once. Didn't manage to kill some MC though which cost me the game. Otherwise I've never seen one used in a normal game.

they might be able to hit REALLY hard but they either never get a chance or miss (I only used them in 5th where the blast did only half to vehicles.), plus if one is present then everyone flips and trys to focus it like crazy.

Unless its Apoc then he rolls out with a vengeance and blasts something into the warp with a Vortex missile!!

Standard LRBT never disappoints. Something gets done when a little battle tank rolls out and fires his gun.

My answer to both questions is the Exterminators.

I wish I would see more of them. I call them "Street Sweepers"

They've a lot better choice of late with the increase of Xeno's armies and the heavy tank rule.

I'd love to see more Destroyer tank hunters, but the rules are pretty meh. If they were S10 AP1 they'd be almost worth it.

Never Seen: Deathstrike. Fun looking model (I have one myself), but there's so many "ifs" in using the damned thing that it either obliterates the enemy completely, mercilessly, or misses and becomes a 190 point heavy flamer.

Ol' Reliable: The Bolter Boat. Leman Russ Punisher with HB sponsons. 29 St 5 shots, at your pleasure. In normal Guard, I put Pask in it, with Armoured Company I run Grizmund, who gives it BS4. Quite expensive, but point it at the right target, it'll make its points back without much difficulty.

Pask is probably the better of the two options, and when I run that particular setup, it's that tank which gets a lot of enemy attention. This thing guns down Trygons in one round, C'Tan shards, can pick off TEQs which survive other, more dedicated fire, takes out transports, and can make somewhat successful potshots at careless fliers. Not the optimal russ, but she hasn't let me down yet.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

Never see enough DTHs out there. Tank hunters are super cool, sadly the rules aren't too great.

The popularity of vanilla Leman Russes baffles me. If you direct hit every single shot AND there's no cover at all, then it'll make its points back in most games - if your enemy is MEQ. But that's very unlikely, whenever I use them they just suck ass. Most of the time my opponents simply ignore them, once they realise that just because it's AV14 doesn't mean it's actually a threat.

Depends on your meta really; my russes are only in danger if someone deep strike or get in melee with them, but a squad or two wrapped around it helps fight that...not to mention since it's a vehicle, you can park the back of it at the table edge, so it will halt the possibility or getting shot in the rear. they're more concerned about my HWTs, my CCs giving orders, and of course, Marbo sucks enough attention by himself.

It's not an issue of survivability, it's that it does such little damage. Whenever I fielded them my opponent simply ignored them, which meant my more important vehicles - namely meltavets - bore the full brunt of the enemy's anti-tank, which is very bad. It's important to make your enemy choose between the largest number of targets, that's the backbone of armour saturation.

Compare this to say, Executioners, who are always dangerous, and your list as a whole has a cluster of AV 14 targets, as well as your AV 12 chimeras - your opponent will have to split his melta, lescannons and power fists amongst a larger number of vehicles, and you'll make him choose between a safer hit against the chimeras, and a more risky attempt against the russes. With vanilla russes, all this horrible firepower would be concentrated on your chimeras, leaving you bereft of their mobile firepower, and with all your scoring troops dead.

Would love to see the Deathstrike as a must have. Beautiful model.

I love my Bane Wolves. I have them with mutli-meltas on the hull so they are lethal vs infantry and vehicles. They bring high speed death where I need it and make the Space marines in cover cry.

Must have:

-I've started taking an LR-Exterminator with Pask and HB sponsons in every list I've made for my new IG army reboot. With Pask's bonuses to armour penetration, re-rolling wounds vs. MCs, and BS4 the tank is pretty damn great at killing light-medium vehicles and erasing monsters. Plus it's excellent at mowing down infantry from GEQ to MEQ. And, if I really need to, I can spam a ton of shots at flyers, too.

-I'm sure there's plenty of arguments against Pask, but the Leman Russ Demolisher is a pretty damn good choice. It'll make TEQs stick to cover (minus TH/SS blokes) and scare any ground vehicle around. It makes a wonderful buddy for infantry teams and Demolisher Cannons have this wonderful way of drawing fire wherever they show up. Nobody likes this tank, and that means it'll often soak up lots of AT fire.

What I'd like to see:

-Valkyries. The Vendetta is clearly the better gunship, but I just love the way a Valkyrie sporting rocket pods looks. I also really like the way Armoured Sentinels look when decked out with all various bits that the kit comes with.

I've seen a lot of mentions for Vultures, and they're great... but I'd love to see an Avenger get into a dogfight with a Dakkajet.

For me, the "never disappoints" model is the Manticore. Last game I played, it took out a Baal Predator, a SM Demolisher, 8 BA Assault Marines, and damaged a 2nd Baal.

IN A SINGLE SHOT.

It got blown up next turn when Dante assaulted it, but even then it had more than made its points back.

I'd like to see more sentinels. Whole squadrons of them.
My favourite non-vendetta vehicle is old humble chimera. It is not a fire magnet, protects plasmavets and with 6 shots it always kills something on it's own.
