Hi Guys,

Sorry to be all "Spammy" but I promised a friend I would help spread the word on his Kick Starter - Mechabrick

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1783629197/mechabrick-a-minifig-mecha-board-game-and-models

What is Mechabrick?

Mechabrick is a range of precision moulded plastic kits to convert your minifigs into 1/144 scale fighting robots or 'mecha'. You can upgrade your mechs with weapons and accessories and then battle for supremacy in a fast-paced board game using buildings and scenery built from your favourite plastic toy building bricks.

Please click on the link, and if you like it please spread the word !

While it's a cool idea, the design of the mech doesn't really grab me. I'm a little puzzled at the use of the minifigure... given the scale (so the minifigure isn't the pilot) why bother? Surely those parts could have just been integrated into the kit?

I agree, there are dozens, if not hundreds of mecha designs out there that LEGO fans have been building for years that are pose-able, dynamic, and quite brilliant in their construction.

Gotta agree with insaniak and -iPaint-, the concept itself is an incredibly promising one but the actual models on show don't particularly grab me either.

I'll be keeping tabs on this one, though. Looks like a project 'to watch'

yeah, I don't understand the need for a figure design which needs a LEGO man to start and then totally covers him up.

Why not make your own models then?

Since people make their own crazy mechas with legos already, not sure what non-lego custom lego-fitting parts accomplish.

The Lego community is huge and is already awash with cool mecha designs and there are free rules out there.

I can even go historic thanks to guys like brickarms and their weapons packs and use ww2 skirmish rules.

It's a nice idea but isn't worth 16k

I must be the only one here who likes them. They look like the old Gundam knock-off models that Aoshima used to make in the early 80s. Maybe it's just the nostalgia factor for me since my brothers and I used to build those ugly ass things when we were kids, but I'll totally back this. I don't see it funding though.
