I'm a huge 'Journey to the West' fangirl, and have been waiting for this to go live for months.

I really wish the Resin figures weren't so expensive though. :/

I love Journey to the West! But not those ridonkulous resin prices. The plastics should be just fine for all of my purposes... and I suspect retail will see a significant discount on the price at some point.

Glad they are using a mix of hard and soft plastics and not just going with the easy/cheaper option of all soft.

Resin option might be a better option once it hits more unlocks, too expensive for now.

I'm going plastic to start with, but may switch over to resin. If they keep adding free unlocks, the value will get too good to miss.

Also, there are some images late in the video of some very cool concept artwork. Looks like they're saving some amazing stuff for later in the campaign. Between this, KDM, and Darklands, I think we are seeing a new era of tabletop gaming.

I'd been looking forward to this one.

My only real beef is the 54mm scale, but outside of the monk that shouldn't be a huge issue. Most of these guys are gods or demons, so they don't necessarily have to be "human" sized around 28-30mm.

The rules snippets we've seen look pretty solid. Hopefully they put the rules up before things are over.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

I like this too, but I am still a bit nervous about how it will turn out - though there's no way I can go in for resins here.

I can't afford the resin either, but I'm sure the plastic models will be detailed enough.

... I hope...

Backers, some of you have asked for more Add-Ons, specifically, the T-Shirts and Art Book. Here you go. These T-shirts are Kickstarter Exclusives. We will not be selling these items after the Kickstarter campaign is complete. There will be a survey after the Kickstarter is closed to confirm the style and size of the T-shirt you want to add to your rewards. Sizes are S-XL.

Full color Art Booklet. This beautiful booklet contains many full color images describing the creation of Journey: Wrath of Demons. It is subject to change, but the current draft is a soft cover, A5 booklet, about 15 pages long. It is also a Kickstarter Exclusive. We will not be selling these items after the Kickstarter campaign is complete

Now that we have these extra Add-Ons and more stretch goals unlocked, we have updated the front page to make it easier to find this information.

Avatar Update # 1

Want to let everyone know that you have started this Journey? Why not update your avatar with one of these great images?

If you want to use these outside of Kickstarter, please do! The more people that know about Journey, the greater the game will become.

Many of you experienced backers already know how to set your avatar. If you have never done it before, here are some brief instructions.

Start by saving the image you want to use to your PC. Right click on the image you like and pick the menu entry for saving images (in Chrome, that is “Save Image As…”, in IE it is “Save Picture As…”). Remember the name and location of the jpg file.

In Kickstarter, edit your settings. Open the menu in the top right corner, the one that says “Me”. Click “Edit Settings” on the left-hand side. Once your settings are displayed, you can see your existing avatar on the right. Click the Upload button on the far right and select the jpg you saved in the first step.

Give Kickstarter a few seconds to update. Your avatar will show everyone you are with us on our Journey!

Did you think the Soul Hunters were more Demons? Guess again! The Pilgrims are not alone in their fight against the Demons and when the Pilgrims are powerful enough, they can summon the Soul Hunters to aid them in their fight.

However, this is not a simple decision. Soul Hunters are fierce fighters but they slaughter their Demon victims and steal their Souls. The Pilgrims will receive Bad Karma for every Soul Hunter kill. Is it worth the risk to summon a Soul Hunter’s aid?

Here you can see the concept art for Garvok, by Adrian Smith, one of the many talented artists working with us on Journey.

You have now unlocked Soul Hunter Garvok, as an optional resin Add-On for $20. The miniature includes all game cards to fully integrate him into the game. Garvok is a unique creature, so you need at most one miniature for game play. This Add-On is completely optional and is not required to play Journey: Wrath of Demons.

Okay, back to Boxed Game Upgrades. If we can get to $90,000, we will give out another miniature:

PP style plastic is ok for large organic shapes (like PP's large warbeasts) but sucks for fine details and any thin parts. This is why Sedition Wars didn't work (small scale, lots of fine detail).

Wow, this is really moving along! So that’s three Boxed Game Upgrades unlocked now. This time, we will give 1 additional plastic Borrack Bull General miniature to all backers receiving the Boxed Game Upgrades.

Can we unlock the next goal? $100,000 will be an impressive total, you guys amaze us. It deserves an impressive reward. At $100,000 we will introduce a totally new kind of Demon, Zing Yau. And more good news, this awesome looking Zing Yau is Boxed Game Upgrade, once we reached you will get it free!

Anyways i really like the look of the latest demon, it looks awsome! the last one was a little meh, it looked to much like something from the fantasy beastman range.

I thought they said they'd be going the Wrath of Kings route, using a mixture of different materials depending on what was being cast.

Seeing as how we don't have any Wrath of Kings figures to look to for a comparison, we'll just have to go by word of mouth from GenCon and the people who demoed the game there.

Didn't care for the design of the Soul Hunter (hopefully the figures fares better) but the new demon looks nice.

Considering these guys are all supposed to be 54mm on average, those are going to be some big chunky demons hopefully.

Check out the new episode of Throne of Angels on YouTube. He's got some fresh from the presses production models of a few of the figs. Its not hands on, but they look pretty solid from what I can tell.

Wrath of kings will be both restic for the figures and gw plastic for weapons so that doesnt sound to good :(

Game Overview

So you have a chance to see our resin miniatures. Here is some information about another facet of Journey, the game play.

We will be giving out more information via game play videos in the early part of this Kickstarter. These videos have been recorded, we are just finishing the production now, it will not take long. We have been play testing the rules and are in the final stages of documenting them in precise, simple, English. This task is not trivial. Even if the rules are good, a badly written rulebook will ruin the game. We will only share the rules when we are convinced they are ready. We also have more updates planned that will show other components in more detail, for example the tiles and tokens, and the rule book.

I'd really enourage you to watch that Throne of Angels episode. I don't think the WoK or Relic Knights minis are going to look like the Sedition Wars stuff....

I'll second watching that Throne of Angels video.

I too had some serious concerns about plastic quality.

Those Wrath of Kings are NOT board game pieces thankfully. They look like definite tabletop quality figures. The detail looked nice, figures looked well cast- I'm really looking forward to these figures now.

I'm also looking forward to seeing just how big this new demon in Journey will be compared to his demonic cohorts.

I wonder if we'll see any of the underwater Dragon Kings. I vaguely remember Monkey diving into the ocean and causing trouble with those dudes.

Or maybe I'm just thinking of Urashimataro.
