I am having lots of trouble against Cygnar at the box-set-battle level.  More embarassingly, I am having lots of trouble even with the vaunted Khador box.

Observations:

Between Stryker's disrupting pistol, the cortex-shorting lancer shield and arc'd earthquake against my def10 heavies - I am finding it an uphill battle.  Stryker usually stays right on the edge of his gun range and just arc's spells through the lancer.  While disrupted, my jacks can't charge him.  Usually he'll put his two light jacks on one side, and the heavy blocking on the other, with Stryker in the back, outside of possible slam range. - Note, he always disrupts/knock down the Jugger to prevent armlocks.  While I do obscene damage, I can't seem to hit anything without focus.

Due to tag-teaming, I am not convinced that Sorcha can successfully kill the lancer by herself without getting creamed in return from the Charger.  Even with the freeze feat, Sorcha usually ends up getting charged from a full-focus Stryker if she tries to engage a jack.

Maybe I should just shoot for immobilizing the lancer with Sorcha's spell and be done with it, though this doesn't stop arcing spells.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Remember, when Sorscha casts Boundless Charge, the model MUST charge but does not need to spend a focus to.

If you feel like being a butt, horde focus on Sorscha, cast Wind Rush to be Def 20, and go in and try not to spend too much focus. Just boost to hit to (attempt to) freeze something.

When you freeze, they spend one turn doing nothing. This is ample time to get away or to follow an all out attack on Stryker.

If at first you don't succeed, you fail.

Without knowing the ranges of Stryker's stuff, I can tell you the general plan of attack.

Keep Destroyer just out of range of both bombard and spell from Stryker. Use Juggy to engage the arc node, as arc nodes can't channel while engaged.

Most importantly, march Sorscha up to within CMD radius and gun range of flame-hair and feat, then boost damage on shooting his frozen butt. Repeat on his DEF 5 form with the bombard as needed.

Without their high def, Cygnar guys fold up. Also, you can add insult to injury by casting Tempest on him while he's frozen to knock him down to boot.

What frightnight said.

Recall that Sorcha has a pretty frightening potential range on her gun - something like 27" due to her charge spell.

Cast it on her, rush forward, pop feat to freeze stryker, then blast him with her pistol and follow up from the destroyer. That should drop him; with the exception of Darius (and I guess Siege) the Cygnar casters are pretty soft.

Tempest is 4 focus, why do that when you could (potentially) try and slam the target down? Not only do you almost auto hit but the person takes damage, perhaps even more when they hit something else.
Then save the 4 focus for Sorscha and let her do other things.

If at first you don't succeed, you fail.

Because Tempest is:

a) an AOE effect so could hit multiple targets.

b) a delaying tactic since usually Sorscha is slightly overextended beyond her jacks due to Wind Rush.

c) not always needed if you can kill them in the first round of freezing, anyway, but nice to have as a backup.

oh and fyi the effective range of Quake is somewhere around 16 inches.

Stryker has a 12" control range in which he can channel spells; quake has a goodly range but it can scatter - so you want the Lancer to be no more than 3" away from its target to guarantee the target gets hit (you can't scatter more than half the distance and the small bases are 1.18" across; do the math and you'll find that being 3" away with max scatter gives you a few tenths of an inch to work with).

So, yes, engage the Lancer with the Juggy to keep it from doing that. Boundless charge works WONDERS.

Yeah, drop that arc node and stryker's in trouble. He's too soft to mix it up himself at short range.
