Subject: How to cancel a Kickstarter oder?

I apologize if this isn't the right board to ask this, but how would I go about cancelling a couple of Kickstarter projects I was backing?
I was backing the Robotech Tactics game and the Kingdom Death Kickstarter. Neither is close to being shipped yet so I should be able to cancel them and get a refund.
It sucks since I was really looking forward to both of them. When I backed the projects I had a decent job, but I've been unemployed for a while now and can't afford them.
Thing is, I can't find out how to cancel the orders, other than the Amazon website. But the option to cancel them isn't there now since the debit card I used expired and I had to add a new one.
I did contact both projects with e-mails, but have had no reply yet.
Any suggestions?

You won't get a refund from Kickstarter or Amazon.
You can try to contact the company directly, but they have no obligation to give you a refund.
Your best bet is to try to re-sell your product as soon as you receive it.

The only thing I can find after a search is this http://www.kickstarter.com/help/faq/backer%20questions but I think this maybe before the kickstarter has ended.
Might be worth a look although I am sure you have all ready tried, you could contact your card supplier and see if they can have the money refunded but not sure they will be able to unless it is a credit card.
Credit Card companies can return payments easier than a standard bank card.

If this was a straightforward purchase, I'd agree. However, Kickstarter is much more akin to small scale investment, and unless something is covered in the KS ToS with regard to withdrawal of funds, then it is up to the Creator whether they issue a refund (return your capital)
I'm sure, from a goodwill perspective, they will if they can, but don't expect any obligation in their part.

As said KS and Amazon won't refund you; they were only the middlemen in this and the company you hold a contract with are the companies who ran the KS itself. So you'll have to contact them to see if you can arrange a refund. If you get a refund or not is tricky to say since the projects are not shown to be fraud and are running and progressing (they might slip estimated dates ,but that isn't the same as failing).
State your case and ask politely is all you can do but don't set your hopes up.

Additionally, if you're able to get refunded don't be surprised if they deduct 10-12% to account for the fees that have been taken out.

Sadly I think you are fethed if months have passed since they ended.
You get a good deal on KS though, maybe you could ebay them and get decent cash when they arrive?
Sorry to hear about your current situation though, keep your chin up and don't let it get you down, life is swings and roundabouts, Im sure things will turn around soon.
I always found that watching videos of starving African children always cheered me up when I was skint, there is nothing like seeing kids eat dirt to make you think "Ah.. I suppose things could be worse!"

Have they been financed yet?
Some Kickstarter's have a $1 option, to show support - if there is still time you could change your pledge to the $1 option if you cannot find a "cancel / refund" option?

As others had said KS isn't a shop, it's an investment, I'm sure the companies will have now invested the cash you gave so might not be able to return it - and even if they did they would probably have to keep around 15% of the fees to avoid being out of pocket themselves (remember KS take 10% and then there will be the amazon processing fees too)
As others have said the best bet might be to wait for them to arrive and try to sell them.

You can cancel your pledge at any time during a funding period just like you can change it to any amount because you are not charged until the end of the funding period and the only if the minimum funding goal is met. So until the end of the pledging period you can pull out; the KS in the opening post however are all ended and thus the money has already been deducted and allocated to the company, kickstarter and amazon.

You can cancel anytime before the the backing period ends - that's easy because no money has gone anywhere. It's after that point when the money is collected and put to use to make the project that of course, it's no longer possible to cancel.

That's a silly assumption to make, although not unreasonable if you don't know what Kickstarter is. You're not buying anything, you're contributing funding to a project, and if you're getting merchandise in return, that's just a bonus for contributing money. So it only makes sense that there's not way to cancel once a project has already been funded, especially months after the fact, because the money you contributed is gone - it's already been spent.

Just sell your pledge. I'm sure that there is someone kicking themselves for missing out on Monster, and you can probably get Poots to send your pledge rewards to a different address.

That... is an incredibly practical suggestion.
And the one that is most likely to get the OP what he desires.

+1 to this. Sounds like this is the most practical solution.
