I've ordered one of these for the first time.

Have they given any indication of when they are likley to ship?

Doesn't look like any of the Christmas bundles are actually Christmas bundles. They're just the regular army bundles. (either that or they just added everything to both the Christmas and regular sections.)

The 'Crazy Box' is the unique bundle for Christmas - Christmas Grab Bag, with a bunch of random sprues and sprueless plastic/resin miniatures.

This year they are including one Dreadball giant figure and one Dreadball MVP, a poster, a mix of Kings of War and Warpath minis, and a few other things.

I know enough folks that play Mantic Games that these are a pretty safe buy - someone will appreciate each item.

I do not know if there is a special on their ordinary bundles, but they are generally a good value in any event.

I think the bundles (Not including the christmas box) are there as gift ideas rather than new bundles designed for christmas.

there are definitely new bundles that are an even better deal

for instance the old $174.99 undead "malak's endless horde" is

1 Metal Mounted Vampire Lord
10 Plastic Resin Undead Revenant Knights
40 Plastic Undead Skeletons
20 Plastic Undead Revenant
40 Plastic Undead Ghoul
30 Plastic Undead Zombies
1 Plastic Undead Balefire Catapult

whereas the new christmas bundle The Bloodmire Legion (on preorder) is the same price but contains

Lady Ilona
Liche King
Limited Edition Mounted Army Standard Bearer
20 Revenants
40 Skeletons
20 Ghouls
60 Zombies
10 Wraiths
10 Mummies
6 Werewolves
10 Revenant Cavalry
2 Balefire Catapults

so for the same price you get like 40 more figures

And undead are quite possibly their best looking army.

I would agree with that Auld. The undead seems to be the best looking army and one with the largest range of models.

The Christmass Crazy box is a good deal? I mean, it look promissing, but the amount of sprues is good for a modeles to make some "diorama units" for KoW? Im looking for some "cut and glue" projects . Good ideia?

If my post show some BAD spelling issues, please forgive-me, english is not my natural language, and i never received formal education on it...

I don't know what a cut and glue project is.

The crazy box is always a good deal though I think in last years box I got around 40-50 minis and a war machine.

"cut and glue" is a term i invented

It refers to those projects like: take a theme, a bunch of plastic, tools and glue. Now, mix them in cool looking units and stuff like that

40-50 models and a war machine? Sounds promissing...

Last year every box was the same, so everyone got the warmachine and models. This year every box has the same number and type of models, but not the exact SAME model. Dreadball models will be random and stuff like that.

What number and what type?

When I said type I meant there is a random dreadball MVP that is in every box. Or there are a certain number of infantry sprues. I obviously don't know the exact miniatures.

Aside from money being tight, I'm too scared of Men At Arms sprues to go in on this...

For me its not just money being tight but I just know I will probably not get round to painting most of the stuff in it. Same reason I didn't go in for reaper bones, the value per miniature is fantastic but really if I don't get stuff that is actually fit for projects I am working on then its just gonna sit in a box all year like much of my stuff from the last crazy box did.

Well, with the Bones stuff there's at least a lot of variety to keep you covered for role-playing well into the future - or if you just feel like randomly painting a bugbear or whatever. Mantic's stuff is (mostly) much more specific and directed and wargames-based, so they really work less well as a random assortment.

Ouch!

I agree about the limitations of a random assortment of half-squads or whatever comes on a sprue. Plus, the local FLGS likes to try their very best to liquidate Mantic stock, so I have plenty already.

I always thought the Christmas bundles were perfect for roleplayers, as you'll get multiple different single sprues of dudes... so enough for a wood elf patrol, a gaggle of orcs, a cluster of skellies, a pile of ghouls and zombies... hell even a sprue of Menz-at-Arms is very useful for generic town guard. (and yes, the elves are always a point of contention, as I used to hate them, until I got some, and now I have an army of them. they're so tiny and lithe with tons of detail... and look infinitely better when their armor is painted as leather or cloth-based, with the extra metal armor plates glued on to bulk them up. for some reason no one ever uses the extra armor plates, it blows my mind) Plus many of the sprues have tons of cool bits like dead elves and dwarves, little orclings, dwarf pipes and bulldogs, elf cats and weapons and broken shields, skeleton dogs and whatnot...

Heh, depending on sculptor... Reaper's got a lotta stinkers, too I've actually mixed some of Tre's orcs into my Mantic orcs and they work well as they have similar armor/weapon stylings, and Tre's are taller and look bossier. So a Reaper/Tre orc or two and a handful of Mantic orcs for the foot troops.

I'm requesting a couple for xmas myself. Its hard to buy for me, and this may be fun to give as I think I'll be actively excited opening them to see the assortment.

I just wonder how random they're gonna be. I don't really want to get, say 3-4, and end up effectively building regiments/platoons of KoW/WP. Obviously duplicates are always a 'danger' of random grab bags like this, I just wonder if I'll have enough of a chance at getting a nice range over multiple boxes, or if I should stick to just a couple and look for other gift ideas.

As well as dreadball seems to be doing, duplicate giants and MvPs may make a decent return on eBay too..

If anybody gets an extra Enforcer MVP for Deadzone, I want it! USA, of course. Buying from someone in the UK would be kinda pointless.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

You kidding me, GD? You're one of the guys I figured would be converting those right alongside me. Lol. If you have any extras, something went horribly wrong for you.

Well, I want one, if it comes. Wouldn't go out of my way or anything, I like the WP/DZ enforcers fine. If I got two I'd not really need the second as I don't like identical poses.

Besides, I'm probably gonna get riller/mee'kel as most people have been (though I guess that was mostly the first trial batch, but who knows). Probably won't get two, but if I do, I'll let you know

The Riller/Mee'kel shouldn't be happening anymore. Yours were started after they announced the extra characters coming in right? And mine hasn't even been announced yet... hopefully that means better packing processes for us ; )

Nah, not being nasty. Reaper has a lot of outstanding sculpts from a large range of sculptors over the years across a wide range of figures and genres, while Mantic is still quite new, starting to come into it's own and having quite a lot of growing pains. Even though the Bones models aren't as sharp as the metals, many of them are still very, very good.

You don't have to sell me on Reaper. I have gone in on both Bones Kickstarters and have a ton of their minis staring at me right now. Some of my best friends are Reaper. However, the depths of their back catalog do provide a lot of chuckles and winces. With their cheap minis and hit-or-miss sculpts, Reaper is like the Mantic of yesteryear, a red-headed step child nearly grown up.

Besides, I enjoy snark for its own sake.

Mantic and Reaper are two of the companies I buy from the most, with WGF completing my trinity. Unfortunately, I have it on good authority that I have terrible taste.
