I tried a new painting technique, well new to me, on my first new Tactical Squad box set. What do you all think?

It's a nice start but they look a little... blue? What I mean is painting the backpack a different color for example my bring a bit of contrast to your models.

Nice job with the highlighting otherwise!

Thanks. I did paint the vents of the packs with leadbelcher, but you can't see them in this photo.

Maybe make the back of the banner a pale yellow or a white to add a bit more contrast. I know it's unfair to compare you models to the professionally painted codex ones, but take a look at how they add colour to add contrast, I'm not a very skilled painter, so I just add a black wash to represent battle damage, it works well with Yellow IF not sure it'll work on UM

They are Ultramarines, they're supposed to be blue. It's kind of... their thing.

OP: They look nice, you're certainly off to a good start! Keep it up!

Oh dear that was a terrible movie.... But anyway.... I agree they could use a wash, but other than that they are looking top notch!

I like them They are some worthy Ultramarines indeed

Only thing I miss is a highlight on the metal with either Ironbreaker or Runefang steel.
