Subject: =][= Inquisitorial Escort - The Bleaux Controversy =][= - Step 1 - season break
Like many of us, I have been a long time lurker of Dakka², watching with amazement and sometimes awe all imperial related plogs. Being a rather early (if not old) hobbyst (1997), I only have beend playing 2nd Ed for 4 years. I must admit I tried 5th Ed but was not very fond of playing anymore.
After having moved home 4 or 5 times, I always wondered what I would do with all that hobby stuff that was collecting dust in various boxes. So I decided to switch from a rather big IG army to a smaller scale in the ways of Inq28. What I am about to show is based on the last Inquisition codex though. And is not meant to be played with, only to show a slow pace plog as a way to keep me motivated.
So I will update this plog here accordingly to my blog posts.
Oh, before any questions arise after reading me, please excuse my writing for I am a(nother) French hobbyst
Now I am highly motived and under fierce adrenaline rush. I bought new stuff and realised that I do need some kind of plan to get things organised. I discovered a small PC program that will help me cut my project into smaller pieces. Here it is : http://www.warhammer-forum.com/index.php?showtopic=139155
It allows for a given amount of points to split the completion of your army into several sessions. Here, and according to the brand new Codex : Inquisition, I roughly have 900 points of pure inquisitorial force.
Here is how I plan the on-going process of assembling and painting my inquisitorial escort.
Steps are :
Step 4 is far away from today so I have not really thought things through yet. However, there should be some Dark Elves and Ghouls involved
Sometime in the near future, I will post the fluff around those agents of the Inquisition. I have wrote a few lines that I'd be glad to share with you.
All in all, a lot of work to come so I got to go to work on that !
Automatically Appended Next Post: Here is what I gathered. Since I don't plan on playing with them, I tried to best match up with a WYSIWYG eye.

Automatically Appended Next Post: A little update on this slow pace project.
Inquisitor Dvorak got more than just a plain rejuvenat treat, he simply changed face.
As for inquisitor Sprenger, he got a bit of a facelift too :
His left arm will not be left as such, I plan on adding a kind of pelt to hide the gap of his armpit. And his back will be draped in a cloak. I am really new to GS manipulation so I'll follow a few tuts here and there...
If you stop by this post, I will be glad to read your comments. I know I have a long way to go to achieve what I have in mind and I know I can do it thanks to your thoughts on this

Wow! first of all! This is a really cool project you have started here! I won't lie, I got very confused by the tables with the purchasing/conversions/painting percentages, but I'm still impressed at your organisation, that's more organised than I have ever been for a project!
As for the actual models I really really like what you have done so far, the terminator inquisitor in particular looks really good, that heresy style armour works really well as an inquisitor, and I cant wait to see your attempt at a greenstuff cloak.
In short I have subscribed and am look forwards to seeing more of your stuff, even if it is done slowly, I often find that taking your time on models makes nicer end results.

Thanks a lot for your comments J-paint! I'll have a go at the cloack tonight, I'll let you know if it is a win or a fail
From my amateur perspective (and having not used GS before in any real amount) it looks like the fur needs to be finer and more hair like. These videos give a better description of what I mean.

I think that largely your attempt was really pretty damn good! And would be fine to use as it is, but that said there might be things you can do to improve it, the main reason some bits may look odd is because there are round smooth lumps, and that just doesn't happen in fur, you could try cutting notches out of any rounded bits of green stuff, especially near the edges, which may improve the look, or as dreadclaw suggests finer fur, so thinner lines, I'm not sure what you are using for tools here, but i can strongly reccommend both clay shaping tools and dentists tools (sounds weird i know!) But the little pointed ended instruments are very good for making very fine hair or fur like this.
Hopefully that all makes sense, and don't be discouraged! what you have done is awesome!
Oh Dreadclaw69, thank you so much for your tips ! I only had time to watch the last video and I now understand what you mean by 'finer and more hair like'. Unfortunately, I won't have time to give it a try until Saturday ... I'll let you know my progress if progress be.
@J-paint : you are right, the error I made was to sculpt the 'hair' once the GS piece was glued on the model. I'll work on side model to get used to it.
@Moltar : Thank you sir for your encouragements !
This week-end will be hopefully very hobby-oriented with my Ogryns coming into play.

Your are giving me a great honnor ! Thanks a lot
Errrhh, well, I ... just ... couldn't ... wait any longer !
I realised a couple of things : there is the GW fur and the other furs. There is the "long thin S method" and the "V shape style". So I went for the "other GW S & V school"...
I feel relieved that the fur is looking better, even though I had to keep the previous "side pelts". So as to stop brainstorming at work on how should I sculpt my Sprenger's pelt, I'll leave it as is.
Once again, thank you very much everyone for your support and tips !
Here are the results (*drumroll*)
Once cured, I'll give the borders a bite so as to give it more, erh, edge ...
Oh, since J-paint asked, I have a whole lot of tools, for not being equipped enough has been my main apology for procrastinating during the last couple of years ...
Cheers

Now that sir is an impressive armoury! Really nice collection of tools! Puts mine to shame. But I have to say the fur looks a thousand times better, whatever method you used this time It looks absolutely amazing, really really impressed with the improvement....Did i mention that it looks impressive?

Now, I'll move on with my ogryns conversion as HB servitors.
