So, can you try to make a Look Out Sir! for each model that is within 6" of your Character model? So say I have a squad of 10 Marines all within 6" of the Sergeant and there are 17 wounds coming at me...can I make 9 Look Out Sir checks?

In theory, yes. Just not all at once.

Assuming the Sergeant is first in line, you make 1 check. If it passes the nearest marine takes a save or is removed. Repeat for every incoming wound.

LOS now goes to the nearest model (FAQ). You can keep doing LOS until the character is dead, so if you have 17 wounds coming at you, you do them one at a time until he dies, so potentially 17.

I believe it is each wound allocated to him:

If he is at the front of said unit, you would have 17 Look-out sirs to roll, where you would roll 9, roll 3+ Marine saves. See how many die, (say 3 die) and then roll the remaining (so 6 more look-out sirs), then their saves, etc... until all 17 wounds have been resolved.

4+ Look-out sir for a sergeant.

It's like you take a Space Marine and say "what could make him cooler?" Instead of adding more super-genetic-psycho-organic modification, you take it all away. You have a regular human left in power armor and all the armies of hell at the gates. And she doesn't even flinch. Pure. Badass.

Check the FAQ, the 6" rule has been replaced, it is now closest model.

You can make as many LOS! Rolls as there are wounds in the wound pool and alive members of the unit to take the wounds., barring special rules such as dead shot that disallow Los!

So in this case, the closest marine takes the wound, and assuming they get a save, could potentially save all 17.

You can even palm off wounds to a model out of Los to the shooters

Keep in mind that you only get one LOS! roll per wound. If you fail the roll, you can't try again on a different pud.

Yes, one roll per wound with each wound rolled separately.
