And sorry to hear about the covid mess. Hope your housemate will recover mentally over time.

Yeah, when fully assembled, trying to paint pretty much anything on the left hand side involves poking your brush into the darkness and hoping you've hit the right bit!

Thanks! She's a little bit better, not sure if she'll ever be 100% again though.

IGtR= wrote:Love the purple cloth - it is very sumptuous.

And hopefully your grim situation gets better. Everyone I know who has been impacted by Covid has been hit bad at the worst possible time, so I hope you stay strong and get some time to paint some minis.

Thanks for sharing, and no worries if you have to take time away - we will still be waiting when you have time to post!

Thanks!
Yeah we were unlucky but things could've been a lot worse, plus things have improved a little this week (Didn't get anything thrown at me at least).

I'll still be hanging around, living vicariously through others painting threads!

Still not getting much painting time, but the little bits have added up enough to let me finish Hercules (Reaper):-

He's pretty rough and rushed in places, but at least I'm slowly getting stuff done.

I was surprised to read about your brush with the 'Rona. I'm glad you're on the mend.

Hercules looks good, even if he's suddenly become modest. I mean, what self-respecting Greek demigod wears anything around his privates?

Now showing more Samurai Marines, Bad Squiddo Amazons, and an Oldhammer Chaos Thug!

Painting total as of 3/28/2024: 21 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain

Painting total for 2023: 79 plus 28 Battlemechs and a Dragon-Balrog

Thanks, I was pretty lucky.

Not sure I could deal with a naked Hercules, I'm already dreading all the tiny plastic wangs Kingdom Death is going to send me one day.

Thanks! I still haven't figured out how to do eyes that aren't looking sideways.

Still making slow progress, I've finished a Sky Dwarf (Warhammer Underworlds):-

Actually pretty pleased with this one.

Dwarf does look good. Nice color choices. Gems are a cool touch.

The eyes look like you wanted them to look this way. I dread eyes too, three minis have scars over one eye, because I couldn't get it look right so slashed the face so one eye looks straight

Good to see more KO, love the scheme. How much is missing from that warband?

Still got 3 more to do in the KO set, Gatling Gunner, Chemist and Floaty Dude.

Thought I'd have a finished Robo-Nun to show-off (Just got to paint the purity seals and tidy the base), but I've got my leg elevated after I hurt my ankle (And then hurt my leg trying to help my ankle ) and I can't fit under my paint desk

But I have picked my next minis, a certain trio of Christmas Spirits:-

I'm not sure why The Ghost of Christmas Present appears to be dressed as a pirate though.

Really like that sculpt on Future. Have fun painting them!

Thanks! Yeah, she's definitely the best of the batch.

Hope everybody had a happy Christmas!

Managed to get one final mini finished before years end, the Robo-Nun (Games Workshop)! -

There's a few areas that could use some work (Like her face), but overall I'm pretty happy with her, and she's finally off the painting table.

And with that, it takes me to 35 minis painted in 2021, which isn't that bad considering life has kept getting in the way (There's been a few times this year where I've considered just packing it all away and giving up on the hobby).

See you in the New Year, hopefully it contains less anxiety and stress!

Finished Robo-Nun ftw!!! Great way to exit the hobby year and gotta echo youwashock, here's to a hopefully better 2022!

In all your WIP photos, I never noticed the little human-sized arms sticking out of the sides. What a cool little detail!

Your purple turned out great. What do you use? My Army Painter purple is super thin and transparent, and I'd love to have something better.

I use Vallejo Game Colour Hexed Lichen as my main purple, it's lovely!

Happy New Year everybody!

Starting the year off well by finishing a mini, The Ghost of Christmas Future (Reaper):-

Really pleased with this one, it's a shame I don't have many "simple" minis in my backlog, they're a lot easier to paint!
Just got the other two to finish now...

Added a couple more guys to the painting table.
Jelsen from Cursed City:-

With the game coming back (With expansions! Yay!) I want to try and get at least a little bit more painted up.

And this poor Deep Sea Diver:-

I'm sure Malifaux minis are getting bigger.

That Deep Sea Diver looks a little stuck-up
Good to see more CC coming our way, I need to make some headway too with that box.

Found your blog by accident and I've now read my way through all of it. Two things: I really like your use of bright colours on your models as it makes a nice change from the typical gritty styles, and... now I want to buy some KD models myself - shame they are so difficult to buy.

My goal with Cursed City is to try and paint enough to balance out all the extra minis that will come with the expansions (Of course now I've said that, one of the expansions is going to end up having 50 ghosts in it or something!)

youwashock wrote:Xmas Future looks very nice. All about that deep purple.

Thanks! Yeah I'm super pleased with how her dress turned out.

Thanks for taking the time to go through the whole thing!
Yeah, collecting Kingdom Death stuff is hard work, I'm just glad I'm no longer trying to keep up with their resin releases too!

Another mini finished!
This time it's the Ghost of Christmas Past (Reaper):-

Not as happy with this one as I was with Future, but she still looks decent.
Still got Present to finish, but she's been bumped off the table at the moment, while I paint Reaper's latest competition mini (I don't expect to get anywhere, it just looked like a really fun mini to paint!)

Thanks!

I'm on a bit of a roll at the moment, 2 more minis finished!

There's Jelsen the Vampire Hunter (Games Workshop):-

And the Wayward Mariner (Malifaux):-

Pretty happy with both of them, but I wish the Mariner fitted on his base better, he looks awkward all squished in the corner like that.

Adding new stuff to the desk, I'm continuing with the Cursed City stuff:-

My first Vampire!

I also want to try and put a dent in my Twisted pile this year, so I'm starting with this guy:-

The Human Torpedo!

Diving helmets abound. The finish on the Wayward Mariner's is fantastic. Loving the skintones on the vamp already.

I also love a good diving helmet mini

A Cursed City expansion with 50 ghosts would be easy, spray - wash - drybrush But I know what you are getting at and if the availability is as bad as with BSF, one needs to snatch those expansions up directly.

Finished mariner looks great, those nearly neon corals are lovely. Regarding the base, do you have some Idoneth bits to put on there?

You're picking some cool models, and really doing them justice
I especially like the wayward mariner, but I agree with you that it would be even better if it was a little more centered on the base.

Thanks! Unfortunately I ran into issues with that vampire, need to rethink it.

Yeah, they're cool.

*Looks at his half-finished Briar Queen set* If only I could keep things that simple!

Sadly, no random fishy bits to fill out my Mariners base.

Got more stuff finished!

First, the Human Torpedo (Twisted):-

Really happy with him, even if I attached his smoke trail a little wonky.

Zombie Ogre Guard (Warhammer:- Cursed City):-

Switched to this guy while I think about Vampire skin. Another one I'm happy with.

I also finished my competition mini, going to be a couple months before I can show off that one though.

Added new stuff to the table:-

Ghost of Christmas Present is back:-

Plus Cleo:-

And Elf Archer Lady:-

Not sure why my piccys started getting washed out suddenly.

You paint some funky cool minis. Human Torpedo is great. No idea what Cleo is, but I can't wait to see her finished. The harp bow on the elf should fill me with disgust, but it works!

Once again a real eclectic mix! And despite the danger of parroting, I too – like youwashock – am most excited for Cleo. Pose, weaponry and her kite thingy on the back look already so cool.

Thanks! Yeah, the harp bow is pretty silly, but in my head she uses the extra bowstrings when she needs to put more power in to her shot.

Yep, Cleo is an interesting one, She's a mix between Lara Croft, Kite Man and a 1920's flapper girl.

Got my final Christmas ghost finished, Christmas Present (Reaper):-

Really pleased with all three.

I just figure its style points on the harp bow. Christmas set looks good too, I like the pants on present and both dresses especially.
