Looks good regardless but they are noticeable in closeups unpainted. Not sure once you put a layer of primer and paint on if they'll be noticeable though.

15mm?

No, that's regular size.

Oh, they probably won't, but it's weird nonetheless.

Maybe AA isn't being applied? Or not being applied in the same way?

I've been doing my supports in Lychee but exporting to STL and doing the slicing in Anycubic's software to get AA to work as historically Anycubic printers don't like applying AA from other slicers (though admittedly I haven't played around much to see how much AA makes a difference).

Honestly not sure. I guess I'll have to do some testing! ^^

Ok, primed and basecoated both, and they're looking shiny

You can certainly see the differences between both (GW has tweaked the proportions and some other stuff, particularly the torso and shoulders, for this version of the Contemptor, and it shouws).

GW's one certainly wins in poseability, ans you can pose it basically however th feth you like. BUT it's an absolute PITA to assemble, and has a lot of very noticeable seams on really visible places, like on the very venter of the torso, or the visible sides of the shoulders, and that's a pain >_>.

The contemptor file I printed is much easier to prep, but it's less poseable, and now it's visibly different to the new plastic one (it seems to be based on the old one).

There's still some layers visible in some places, but all in all, pretty decent:

Spoiler:

And as a comparative, the plastic one:

Nice!! Once you get some shadows in the recesses and lighten the raised areas it will really make the details pop.

Interesting... I find that I like Lychee's supporting and raft options better than the ones from Chitubox, but I'm not sure it actually works as well as a slicer.

I’ve never been able to get Aa working on my Photon Mono, even after the firmware update. That’s using lychee and Anycubics own slicer.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

I don't know much about AA, just popping in to agree about Lychee supports + rafts. I prefer working in Chitu as it's a lighter program and more intuitive for me to move in, and easier to tweak settings on the fly, but I can't remember the last time I used it to support anything.

I love Lychee's interface, its main downside is that it's much worse at handling garbled meshes, even with the built in fixing tools.

Still testing lychee, not much issues so far... but I've been printing bigger stuff.

But firstly I've printed a number of painting handles with bottle cap adapter to work with the airbrush:

This week I've been printing a big project, a present for a friend that's very much into Elden Ring (or however it's spelled). It took a grand total of five plates, and it weights about half a kilo:

Stompa for scale

Way too mighty for my photo booth

As for painting, I've gone the easy path of "bronze statue" with green wethering:

And this is the end result (took the photo a bit too early, the letters of the logo are actually legible )

The painting is a hack job, but it does look pretty cool, all told.

Wow, that's mighty impressive. I think the statue paintjob works a treat, really lets the detail on the model speak for itself with that little shading/weathering to help it out.

That's a helluva print and the bronze statue paint serves it well

But really I wanted to exalt the bottle cap handles, brilliant!

Hahah, thanks I'm pretty happy with the end result, tbh, given the effort required.

This has certainly been my biggest print on the Mars 3 so far, and the result is very encouraging.

Also, yeah, those handles are pretty nice ^^

This weekend I've been printing stuff for my IWs, and probably for therest of the beakies, when I decide what to do with them.

Firstly, I painted a couple of special guns:

You know, so I have spares just in case ^^.

I also printed some "Iron" marks to fill the support units I already have:

I topped off the melta unit with three models:

And used some of the plasmas with plastic Mark IVs to fill the plasma unit:

And seeing as I'm interested in testing them, I built a volkite caliver unit with the rest of the bodies:

Thanks! I'm reasonably happy with them, given the time I invested.

Also, a callout to Helforged Minis' Patreon: if you sub for just a single month, you get all their back catalog. Kinda nuts.

Very nice work as always. I tried to look up their patreon page but it seems like all their update posts are hidden/locked unless you're already a active patreon. I looked back to April and didn't see any public posts other than their text only intro terms and conditions EULA.

The Iron Warriors continue to look excellent! Must be time for a new army shot soon?

@warboss, re. Helforged

They've got a subreddit where they post previews, they keep them off Patreon after a kerfuffle with GW, I believe. But pretty much everything is here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/HelforgedMiniatures/
Thus far they've done Mk3 armour (generic, chaos and Iron Warriors), MkIV (generic, chaos and Word Bearers), MkV (generic, Chaos and Sons of Horus) and MkVI/Recon armour (Generic and Alpha Legion), plus more 40k-style Night Lords, Noise Marines and Khorne Berserkers, and generic Cataphractii and Saturnine Terminator armour.

I also subbed to them this month, absolutely killer bits and kits and solid support work by Atlas too, so you can fairly reliably just load up a plate of whatever you want and press go!

Thanks, there's still some more things I "need" to finish ^^

Like Rhinos, for example. I did finish the first, though:

So who is leading this burgeoning force in multiple scales? There's a very nice Perturabo up on MMF that used to be available on kickstarter a few years back.

No one of note, to be honest. It is supposed to be a garrison force left behind on a no-name planet, so the officers cadre is mostly unknowns and undesirables, like original terrans and the like that did not particularly like Perti but also didn't have the decency of dying in combat or in the decimation like they should have.

Basically, they're a bunch of bitter old warriors resentful of their leader that are still for some reason loyal to the idea of the grand crusade (if not the execution or the fact that they have been left to rot, so there's resent for everyone there) and when they learn about the betrayal and perti's decision to side with Horus they go all "feth that, I'm outta here".

Fair enough. I'm guessing you're a fan of that short story of the hrud aged loyalist warsmith then?

I figured you might not use a primarch given they're loyalist and split not just between two scales but two eras as well.

I actually learnt about Barabas after I dediced on the background of my army ^^, but it's a cool story nonetheless.

Also I'm personally not very fond of special characters in general and primarchs in particular, as part of an army. To me, they make the setting feel smaller, and I much prefer to play with my dudes instead of someone else's (and yes, the same could be said of choosing a legion/chapter instead of making a new one, but it feels a bit different, particularly on the HH, because there's just so much variation inside every legion).

Painting some more 15mm marines this time I'm testing a colorshift paint to try and get a decent-ish Alpha Legion look:

The paint is kinda weird: it basically looks like a milky liquid with metallic flakes floating on it, and you an actually see the flakes when applying it, but it looks decent enough afterwards.

This would be more or less the full idea:

I'm printing an eldar Kill Team for a friend and helping to start with painting and all, so I've been painting eldar proxies from multiple patreons.

The first tests have been from last month's Heroes Infinite Patreon. These first were done with the MArs 3 at 25 microns per layer.

For this one I did a zenithal basecoat with rattle cans (my friend was home yesterday so he started working on some):

And for the rest I primed them with the airbrush, regular black and then zenithal with Liquitex white ink:

And these I printed yesterday as a test for the newly arrived Saturn 2, 50 microns, all default settings save for light off delay, which I added (brushed on primer):

Oh wow, those look incredible. Lovely clean prints on what look like quite tricky models. Any idea on a colour scheme yet?

I tend to overlook Heroes Infinite when doing my monthly Patreon check as I usually find them way too over-the-top, but damn, now I'm gutted I missed the first batch of Eldar and seriously considering going in for the second wave. Would have been perfect for the Craftworld KT I just printed last month!
