I wonder how many kits one needs to make those connectable bits into long segments..
As for the prepainted nature of these things, add oil washes and weathering and they're practically done. Not much to hate about that, unless the prepaint layers are caky grainy mess that looks unsightly and doesnt come off easy.. in which case its an absolute nonstarter.
Taking a better look at the table in the video, I'm seeing those cardboard floor pieces they already showed. Guessing the cardboard mat is also a new one that comes around launch time. But is the terrain on the table consisting of one or two sets of terrain you get in the box, whatever it is?
My guess is, its two boxes worth of this new terrain.. looks like there are duplicates of everything on the board

Is that not the flat panels of the original Realm of Battle board? Hard to tell from the pic.

The "mat" is actually the old plastic Realm of Battle board painted sand coloured.
I'd be surprised if they were rereleasing that, given it's not the right size for 40k nowadays, but I guess an MTO isn't completely out of the question?

More likely they'll just say that its a wafer thin layer of paint/prepainted plastic so that all you have to do is blast it with a black/white undercoat and do your own painting on top if you want to do it yourself.

Still can’t tell if it is the old Realm of Battle’s flat panels, or potentially scans of them printed onto cardstock.

Ork Bikers, the second pict shows the floor cardboard piece.
Can tell for a fact that this is a cardboard mat, like the ones that come with Kill Team boxes. Realm Of Battle boards have a lip to them, this one looks too flush to be those. So a ROB, while a MTO could be in the cards one day, this aint it

It occurs to me one of the cool things about the cardboard terrain templates is that they'll probably do a run of them for each campaign deck. The current set is Armageddon themed but in the future we might get something more suitable for the Pariah Nexus and the like.

Looking at the video paused, seeking the frames, its obvious they didnt bother to do anything to these terrain pieces. Horrible mold lines on every vertical surface. Muh Immersion!

The target market of people who don’t want to paint their own terrain and people who care about mold lines are not exactly the same…
Of course, how much people care about visible flaws can depend a lot on the price point.
As much as I personally spend a bunch of time cleaning up mold lines on all my terrain, I genuinely can't think of another soul I know in person who bothers doing that. I don't think it will be an issue in the market of "here is how to get playing as quick as possible."

Mold lines are going to be an issue because if you clean them off you'll also expose the plastic underneath. Looks like they're trying to make the color scheme match as much as possible, but they're going to be an issue along with clip points.
Also this was almost certainly thrown together this morning to get ahead of the leaks, so zero prep time on the appearance isn't a huge surprise and a rather honest bit of marketing.

I just find it jarring, since GW has always made it a point not to show any mold lines on the miniature promo shots. Guess they wanted to show off the product "warts and all" in this case

Thing is if you are going to care about mould lines chances are you'll be respraying these and repainting them your own colour scheme anyway.
Heck a lot of people don't even "see" mould lines in general; even some people who paint to quite a high standard can have mould lines all over their models and just not care.
prepainted terrain is 100% about creating a quick immersive experience and, lets face it, terrain is often the most ropey thing - how man of us have had full painted armies battling over tableclothes with a few books underneath for hills; or super old half finished terrain from the game club; or the 20 year old set that's half damaged and half reglued a dozen times.
It's one area GW can do prepainted on and just not worry.
Notable that it looks like the Nob Biker also has rokkits on his bike, so not sure if that means it's a twin rokkit launcha for his profile, but glad to see they're adding some options for wargear potentially! The bigger questions will be seeing if ruleswise they lean in more into the dakka side of things since Squighog Boyz already cover the combat cavalry niche.

This is fine, assuming the prepainting does not add to the cost.
GW terrain is already rather expensive. I wouldn't really be up for paying even more for the prepaint since I'd want to paint it myself to match my own army anyway.
I think the painted terrain looks fine. Mould lines won't bother the overwhelming majority of people who don't want to paint terrain. I wonder how GW will keep up with the likely demand, but that's another story.
The new Ork Warbikers are the real news IMO. The photos aren't that clear, but what I can see looks great. The current models are okay but suffer from being early digital sculpts, however these look far more dynamic (they also look bigger, but I can't really tell). Maybe we're going to see the whole Ork range overhauled?

They are in a bit of a bind about the mold lines, as if they fixed them for the publicity shots they would be defeating the entire point of the product.
There is something about this that kind of makes me sad, for no really good reason, just that this isn't what I think of the hobby as being. I hope they don't move on to doing the same for non-terrain models.
