This is a guide to how I made my Biovore conversions.
A disclaimer about this conversion before we start. Please don't think of this as a definitive guide to build Biovores, consider it the framework or chassis of the Biovore which you can add on to.
What you will need.
Spoiler:
Modelling tools and Green stuff
Glue!
Model components
Spoiler:
Stranglethorn Cannon
Plastic Hive Guard/Tyrant Guard kit
(Arms, Legs, Upper/Lower Body and Head)
Hormagaunt Scything Talons.
Step 1.
Cut the Stranglethorn Cannon down as shown below...
Spoiler:
Step 2.
Glue upper Torso together, and remove the front of the carapace, this will make a housing bed for the Cannon.
Spoiler:
You may have to make some small adjustments to the angle of this cut later on depending on the angle you want the gun, you'll get the hang of it though.
Step 3.
Attach gun to the body, dry run a few angles first, when you are happy glue in place. You might want to consider pinning this part, but it is not absolutely necessary.
Spoiler:
Step 4.
Place head inside body, for my first two Biovores I had to remove a small section of the head to fit in behind the cannon, but not on this one. It all depends on the angle.
Spoiler:
Step 5
Mix up a small ball of Green stuff, over the whole model I used about two balls roughly this size...
Spoiler:
Step 6.
Begin placing and smoothing off Green Stuff around body and Gun, to make it blend in together. I also like to pack some in behind the head, to conjoin the head with the gun.
First part to this is changing the angle of that the two parts fit together...
Remove the small carapace over hand from the Upper body
This will create a flat surface for the Lower body to fit against. Pack out the upper body with Green stuff to help as an adhesive, and glue the two components together.
Blend the join together with green stuff, the same way we did with the gun.
Step 8.
Attaching the arms and legs.
Do a dry test to get the angle and pose you are happy with, using Blu-Tac. When you are happy glue them in place and attach the forelimbs.
Spoiler:
And here's the whole family together!
Spoiler:
The rest is up to you!
I will probably be adding some sort of spore sack to the undercarriage with pipes running through the body to the cannon, similar to the Pyrovore model.
Hope some of you find this useful, thanks for reading
Slaanesh: "Hey guys we're back! We brought presents. And yes, they ARE sexually suggestive"
Tzeentch: "So did we miss anything while we were away"
Khorne and Nurgle trade a shifty glance
Tzeentch: "Hey! Whos been touching my stuff! Where did my Old World go?!"
Khorne and Nurgle wander off whistling.
Nice work, you've done really well with this.
I might have to use this simply because it is plastic.
Sadly I don't expect this set (guard) to be on eBay, it's just so beautiful.
The kit is absolutely wonderful. It is probably my favourite(did I spell that wrong?) GW kit yet. I just finished painting two of mine and am getting started on the third.
If you want check my blog, link in sig.

Ahem, stealing these! I've been meaning to buy another 3rd ed Biovore to match my other two, but now I should be able to pop out 3-5 for free no problem.
Since Tyranids and Biovores are back with an avengance and I've just had to Google my own tutorial to remember how to do these I thought I'd bump this up for people to find again!
This is great and exactly what i was hoping for! Only question i have Eldercaveman is what would you use for Pyrovores?
I think i would use tyrant guard legs for the Biovore as they seem to have armoured plates on the front legs, and potentially use the tyrant guard bodies for a pyrovore.
Still to make them look distinct from one another any suggestions as to what to use?
