Hi everybody, I am going to paint a warhammer fantasy army, Wood Elves to be exact, setting the standard to tabletop (own view of tabletop so no one gets uppset ).

Backstory: I always set my standards above my own skill when it comes to painting my own miniatures. This (of course) results in myself never being completely happy with the models I paint.
So now I have decided to paint an entire army (roughly 2000 points) focusing and using the techniques I know and master and applying them without selfdoubt . This will hopefully allow me to finish this project fairly quickly (¨fairly...), this blogg on Dakka will hopefully also encourage me further to finish this project (everyone needs additional encouragement).

Theme: I am going to paint my WE in a late autumn theme with different shades of brown-orange. There will be no specific theme in the selections of models because I want both trees and elves.
Project begins:

And some progress:

I will try to update this at least once every second day, arrgghh the discipline this will require...

And as always, be a hater or a lover but post opinion.

Great stuff! It's nice to see some Warhammer Fantasy up in here! Please keep your updates coming!

I know just what you're talking about, posting discipline is a bitch! I've never managed to keep up with my dakka blogs

Gotten of now to a rushing start . So here some progress.

Started of making movement trays (starting in the wrong end perhaps...)
For the first 10x Glade Guards

For the Dryads, so far no woodland add ons but that is the next step.

First Glade Guard, the model for the rest

Two Ebay trekking + some other tree from some other company I cannot remember.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Extra: Glade Guard base in combination with the movement tray

Working hard here to make some headway, aiming at 1000p ready by end of next week, 10x Glade Guards, 10x Dryads, 4x Treekin, 5x Waywatchers, 2x Eagles, Spellsinger and noble on foot. Hopefully I will reach my goal.

Todays progress:

Further progress
Have finished the movement tray for the Dryads

First Treekin done,

Army taking form, have never produced painted miniatures for myself at this speed before, feeling proud

Even more updates. Treekin gang is done (not very funny to paint I will admit, but that makes the feeling of accomplishment now that they are done that much better).

There where some details that received a little extra attention.

Now that they are done next in line will be the dryads. I am not super fond of their sleek ¨barklike¨ skin so I am going to use the new GW texture ink on them, hopefully it will produce some nice result.

More updates coming

Drazuul: Love those leaves! Where did you get them? - I go them from a company namned Basecraft. They have some nice stuff, check it out.

Give yourself a pat in the back, mate, this is absolutely stellar work for what, 4 days?!

Highly impressed, the color scheme is beautiful and those movement trays, wow. Make sure to figure out something else to add to the army, because I don't think those 2000 points will take you that much longer if you keep this up

Thanks, yea been trying to do the discipline painting instead of the ¨when I feel like it¨ style and it gives result (completed half my Dryad regiment yesterday).
No worries about the time, after the 1000p points done I have plans to make the Glade Riders into centaurs and that will take some additional time.
Also Treemen and a Dragon (love dragons) is coming

Thanis again for the reply, more updates incoming!

Dryads done! (Almost, woodland senic on the bases still missing).

The texture ink gave great results, gave more depth to the Dryads ¨skin¨

So now I have battle tested them , and here comes the battle report (short version).

It was a 1000p battle and these are te list (roughly).
Me: Wood elves
Spellweaver
Noble (hail of doom arrow)
10 Glade Guards
10 Dryads
4 Treekin
5 Waywatchers

My opponent (my brother who has just started playing whfb, good for him I say!).
Scarveteran (on coldone)
Skink mage
18 (something Sarus)
5 Chameleon skinks
5 Chameleon skinks
1 Ancient stegadon

Elven army (missing the dryads here though) plus a stand HE as the noble

Lizrardmen army

Elves Deploy

And lizardmen get the first turn and so battle begins

The battle is more or less a smash in the middle where Saruses and Stegadon fight the Treekin and Dryads in one multiple combat.
The WE get a beating but kills plenty of Saruses ( the rest gets picked out by shooting).

Postbattle remains, spell weaver and Waywatchers

And Lizardmens postbattle survivors, Unharmed Stegadon and a single Chameleon Skink

The end results was a epic win for the WE with a difference of 30p... Yea I won by 30 points, Do believe thats as close to a draw as one can get in this game.
Was a great battle, next one will be 1250p.

Extra pic, my awesome hail of doom arrow roll... Damn you lady luck

Sorry for the bad pic buts it is a roll of 4...

Did you make those skirmish bases? If not, where did you get them from? Everything is looking great!

Thanks for the feedback, yea my brother has been draged down the whfb drain although he has to bring his 1-year old son to all the battles. Makes them more cute and fun tough .

I got the skirmish bases from a company called: Sarrisa Precision (they make nice cheap movement trays).

Finishing my waywatchers today hopefully so pics coming.
