So, what size base are terminators supposed to be mounted on now?

I'm using old terminators for my Tengu Legion, and I want to make sure they're tourney legal just in case.

My guess is the 40mm round bases...

Thanks,
Kev

Correct.

With the galaxy as large as it is the odds of the average guardsmen seeing and fighting a marine or MEQ are relatively slim. Unfortunately the guardsmen in your (and anyone else who plays IG's) army are the REALLY, REALLY LUCKY ones that fight marines ALL the time...

Doesn't matter. You can legally use whatever base came in the package with the model. The only rule on the matter states that the model must use a base no smaller that the one it was supplied with.

Also, they still sell terminators using the old smaller bases, so I don't see how anyone could argue against keeping your guys as is.

Good to know, I really didn't want to have to take them all off their current bases if possible - didn't want to run the risk of my new commander conversion falling apart in the process...

I suppose if something changes then I'll do a swap, till then I'll just stick with what I've got.

Thanks guys!

i think the minimum base size should be in the codex would be a good idea wouldn't it(especially for those models not sold by gw or fw like ork kommando's( well you know ) flash gitz skarboyz etc...)

What i did with my old termies was glue the the old bases onto the 40mm, it give the model hieght and a nice terraced effect. I may post a pic of termie conversion i made grafting a older termie body to the new 4th ed. torso with very interesting results if people want.

You must have ALL of your termies on the same size base, not mix matching.

It's amazing how many different rules people manage to come up with about this...

ALL that the book says is that they must be mounted on the base they are supplied with or larger. While it would obviously look better to have the entire squad on the same size bases, it's certainly not compulsory. And would lead to all sorts of problems for Imperial Guard squads with heavy weapons if it was compulsory...

Well, if it makes you feel any better they're all on the smaller bases...

Well I think it would unfair and not right if a termie army (ie Deathwing) came with different size base for each termie.

Well I think it would make me pee my pants and be against my ethics which are based on nothing more than ill conceived misconceptions if a termie army (ie Deathwing) came with different size base for each termie.

Fixed your typo...

Why should anyone care? We all know terminators used to (and continue to, to this day) be supplied with 25 mm bases to mount them on.

There are no unfair advantages to the termie player by mounting them all hodge podge on different sized bases. In fact, the only one who will hurt for it is the termie player.

Some people are just plain whiners who complain about anything and everything.

Kevin, if anyone whines about your bases, I will personally go there and beat some sucka foo a$$...

Unfair how, exactly?

After thinking about I guess it would not be unfair, just suspicious. So I guess you have no problem with a shooty Orc player with his grot on larger bases?

OK, it isn't unfair, but it is suspicious?

Of what?

Larger bases mean you can, potentially, get into base to base with more models. But, more models can get into base to base with you too. This might help IC's, maybe. Maybe less will be caught under blast templates too?

Smaller bases mean, less models in base to base (again, this works both for and against) and more will, potentially, be covered by blast templates.

I don't think it is a slam dunk either way.

Most times if you see this, it will be because people don't want to re-base their army as GW itself, in the latest rulebook, has said you do NOT have to!

Heh, just to get slightly back ON-TOPIC...

Here are the requested pics.  Nothing really special right now, I plan on using some greenstuff to turn the head into a 'Beakie Terminator', and I'm really eyeing a terminator tabard bit off of Bits.com (and cursing myself for not noticing the link off Dakka earlier - would have saved me a fortune in S&H alone... ).  Beyond that, well he IS 'just' a Commander so I'm not going to go too crazy on him.

The first pic is a bit washed out from the flash, the second one shows my bad alignment of the staff going through the left (lower) hand.  It looks fine from the front, but you can tell from the sides or bottom that it's not aligned properly.  I'll probably break it and re-glue in a better position, maybe use the Dremel to open the hole up a bit more so I can get the angle I need.  Just depends on how lazy I'm feeling...
