I just realized the venerated Imperial Issue TDAs do, in fact, *not* come with built-in Multi-trackers, so whats the point of the Stormbolter when your terminator takes the CML upgrade? It might be "fluffy" in that the CML is mounted on his shoulders and therefore he need not relinquish his firearm, but honestly I know of no game rule where the CML gets removed so he is only left with the Stormbolter. And choosing the Stormbolter over the CML when its time to shoot is a silly decision in 10 out of 10 situations. He can't fire both, can he?

Have you checked the rules for Cyclone Missile Launchers themselves? Dark Angels can fire Storm Bolter and Cyclone at once. I don't have normal Marines on hand to check.

The same situation exists for every other model that has the option to purchase additional weapons: they are forced to choose between two unless some other Rule grants them permission to fire more then one weapon per shooting attack. Normally the advantage of having two weapons is the ability to switch back and forth between the two Weapon Profiles, and depending on the profile that alone can be a great advantage. Most times though, the weapon you are purchasing is far better then the one you are replacing, so the primary weapon simply sits there on the model and does nothing throughout the game.

Verified that page 120 of the Space Marine Codex contains a Rule which will make you happy.

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

I can think of at least one scenario where you would want to fire the Stormbolter, but not the CML: An enemy vehicle within 24" with an AV10 facing towards your Terminators that is also surrounded by another of your units at just over 1" away from the enemy vehicle. Firing the CML in either mode risks either scattering the blasts over your nearby unit, or risk penetrating the vehicle's AV and possibly rolling an Explosion! result that could also damage your close by unit. By just firing the Stormbolters, you can only glance the enemy vehicle and not risk harming your nearby unit. This could have the additional side effect of killing the passengers of said enemy vehicle if it is a transport and they have no room to disembark. So while convoluted, there is a situation where you would want to shoot the Stormbolter but not the CML.

There is a fine line between genius and insanity and I colored it in with crayon.
