So 5 termies with a CML for 225 points, or 7 vanguard vets with jump packs, 2 hidden power axes and a sarge with powerfist and stormshield for 219 points

which should i take?

that's 5 wounds on a 2+/5++ save vs. 7 wounds on a 3+ save

10 S4 AP5 shots + 2 S8 AP3 / 2 S4 AP6 blast shots at 24"/48" respetively vs. 6 S4 AP5 shots at 12". Range won't be mattering much since I will be deep striking with the terminators or starting the vanguard on the table and running with them on turn 1, withering 1 turn of enemy fire and assaulting on turn 2.

15 S8 AP2 I1 attacks on charge vs. 8 S5 AP2 I1 attacks + 3 S8 AP2 I1 attacks + 16 S4 AP5 I4 attacks on charge as well as the ability to sweep

The thing is, the vets wont be having the enemy's entire shooting attention because of the way my armylist works (see below) I throw a lot of stuff at him as a BT player.

Its a 2000 point BT chapter tactics list I'm debating on; it is a diverse, fun list including a vindicator, whirlwind, predator annihilator, 5 hammernators, 10 crusader initiates with melta, power sword, power fist in a land raider cruader as dedicated transport, a drop pod bearing a further 9 initiates with identical loadout led by a captain with powerfist and lightning claw, 5 PC/plas "stay back and hold home objective" tac squad, 5 sniper scouts, a MM typhoon landspeeder and 5 cc-scouts aboard a land speeder storm.

GW is scared of girls. Why do you think they have so much trouble sculpting attractive female models? Because girls have cooties and the staff at GW don't like looking at them for too long because it makes them feel funny in their naughty place.

Well the biggest differnce between the two units that you didnt mention is that the vets are much faster.
there both expensive in my opinion, but generally i would go with termies.

I do drugs.
Mostly Plastic Crack, but I do dabble in Cardboard Cocaine.

Wasn't listed, but 5 Assault Termies with TH/SS are the same price.

Could get 8 Honor Guard + a Chapter Banner too, I believe, for around the same (it's silly how much better Honor Guard are than Vanguard Veterans, and VVs are only a tiny bit cheaper if they are naked)

But, between the two, I'd probably go with tac terminators. People tend to fear Terminators more than they should, making them a good fire magnet to cover the rest of your advance.

Should definitely deep strike them.

My vote is for the VVs. Stormbolters have never frightened anyone unless wielded by GKs, and a lone CML for 225pts is laughable. Terminators fists may post a problem - but they might as well be hammernators then.

They are my bulwark against the Terror. They are the Defenders of Humanity. They are my Space Marines, and they shall know no fear.

Should I deepstrike the terminators or start them in my deployment zone and keep marching them up the battlefield (trailing behind the LRC and Vindicator) targeting tanks with the CML until they are close enough to start shooting at infantry?
