Wow.
It was pretty close that I just wanted to keep this find to myself. I've never been really moved by many female minis enough to want to spend money on them over other fine models. I think the 'feminist' argument shoots itself in the foot because a lot of female scifi 'Guard-esque' or 'Sisters-esque' minis are just token female characters for the sake of it.
When I came across these minis I just wanted to start a female Guard army because the minis are so awesome. If this studio started doing male minis too, I'm sure it would be an even bigger success, but as it is I think the studio clearly has a vision and a niche which should put it in good commercial stead for the future.
Only a few minis have been produced yet, but the NEWS section shows what is in the pipeline and it is mindblowing.
Fans of Christian Gossett's Red Star comics
http://theredstar.com/ will see lots of hints of Maya and the girls, there's even one which just screms Venus Bluegenes from Rogue Trooper. The poses are certainly evocative of full-action cutting edge and iconic artwork, which as I say, if there were male minis would put
GW to shame. There are even some Eldar style minis here, but the most exciting ones are the Guard types that have Krieg, Cadian, Catachan -and the already released ones have at least three female Commissars which are really top notch.
All in all we have some amazing characters for an
IG army, officers, Commissars, advisors, standard bearers... there are even heavy weapons teams and old-school dreadnaught-like sentinels.
