Okay so each forum dealing with GW products in some way or another on the internet, whether it is 40k or Fantasy that you joined it for, might have left some impression on you - the members, the mentality, the atmosphere and such. I'll try to compile a guide for anyone wanting to join a forum but not knowing which one, so any help would be appreciated.
Dakkadakka - very lively forum filled with discussions, painting galleries and more
Astronomican - small, homely forum with limited activity
TauOnline - survivors of a civil war
40kOnline -
Bolter & Chainsword -
HeresyOnline -
Warseer - pro GW, moderated a lot, source for rumors
LibrariumOnline - so much ads
BellofLostSouls - source for news and rumors

Not sure I'd agree with this - it's also the biggest resource of cool painting and modelling images in existence, and has a huge casual population and background sections.
While there are tournament areas, I'd hardly call the site 'tournament-oriented'. On the other hand....

I don't know if the message board is any better now adays, But my experience their almost turned me off from 40k message boards for good.
