Subject: Broken Contract - Deep Underground Kickstarter!
Six months or so ago I started designing a miniature board game called Broken Contract. My goal was to take the part board game/part miniature wargame/part dungeon crawler approach of a game like Zombicide, and combine it with some of my favorite "high action" games and TV shows. I wanted to create a game that had hard but fun choices, like Blood Bowl, with cinematic action like Necromunda, but with a more fluid and modern activation sequence. I wanted to put it all in a setting like a much darker Firefly meets Cool Hand Luke, with a hint of Cowboy Bebop. In a different terms, its a high adventure 30mm skirmish miniature board game in a dystopian western sci-fi setting, which I guess is still a mouthful.
Originally I was showcasing the development on my 40K blog, 2ndCityWarzone, but it eventually reached the point where it really needed its own dedicated space, particularly because the alpha play test rules were complete and I needed to start recruiting artists and the like. In January I created http://brokencontract.blogspot.com This was the inaugural post introducing the world to the game setting:
Since then I've recruited new artists, kept the play testing going, and honed both the rule set and my vision of what the initial offering will entail. As I am getting closer to making the beta play test rules available, getting sculpts made, and moving steadily forward towards a Kickstarter,
If you find any of this interesting, follow Broken Contract on Facebook or Twitter:
Though the Kickstarter is still a couple months off, I want to plant the seed of Broken Contract in people's mind space and over the coming weeks I would like to share some of the highlights from the Broken Contract blog. I'm looking to recruit followers, artists, sculptors, play testers. and eventually backers. In the meantime, go check out the Introduction http://brokencontract.blogspot.com/2014/01/800x600-normal-0-false-false-false-en.html and see if this is a project you find intriguing.
Thanks for taking the time to check it out.

Today I put up a slightly more detailed explanation of What is Broken Contract? on the Broken Contract blog. If you're curious, give it a read. It explains a little less about the influences and more of what it is, and a little bit about how it will evolve.
Mr Gutsy,
There will be some models that are only available in the game and some that are available only as add on's through the Kickstarter. So if you're more the casual painter you'll still be able to support a new game company and get some figures just to paint. That being said, I'll consider presenting a "painters choice" option of sorts. Its worth looking into. Thanks for the feedback/interest!

Subject: Re:Broken Contract - Scroll down to see the 1st Sculpt
Things have been really active as I gear up for the Kickstarter.
In the last week or two I've gotten a new 3D sculpt for Officer Anlika from Tim Barry and two new pieces of art from artist Geng Gendall, one for Officer Moerta and another for Trest the Gen-Mod Brute. Check them out.
