I've always loved reading battle reports, so I wanted to try and right one for myself. This is my first battle report, so I apologize if there are any inconsistencies. Unfortunately, there are no photos.
We are both still learning (and memorizing) the rules, so we have most likely done some stuff wrong. If you do see anything, let me know.

And one with the battle report!

Mission: The first one (I don't remember its name).

Chaos:

Warlord Trait: Infiltrate D3 units (I rolled and could infiltrate 2)

Night fighting is on.

Table we played on was about 4'x3' and we played long table edges.

Pre-deployment:
Terrain:
I place down a small home made (cardboard! YEAH!) watch tower in the center and a few inches towards my deployment.
He places a bunker (Whoo! More cardboard), to the left of his army. We then both place down smaller cover near the two other main structures.

Objectives: I place two objectives, one far behind the watch tower and in my deployment zone. I place the other one diagonally from the first, but still behind the tower.
The other player places them behind some cover and on opposite sides of the table.

Deployment: chaos deploys the Cultist, with the sorcerer in Cultist squad 2, behind an LoS blocker and within range of the objectives.
Chaos lord with the chosen and helbrute infiltrate.
Chaos Lord and the chosen deploy 18'' away from the enemy and behind the bunker. Hellbrute deploys 18'' away from the dreadnought, hoping to blow it up first turn.

Dark angels:
He divides them into combat squads and spreads them out along his deployment zone.

DA seize the initiative. *Not good for me as his dread has a clear line of sight on the helbrute.*

Turn 1:
Dark Angels:
He moves combat squad 1 onto an objective (skyfire nexus), he Lascannons the helbrute with his dreadnought, it penetrates and the helbrute has its crew shaken.
*Wow, it didn't blow up.* Combat Squad 3 fires a Krak missile at the Helbrute and it completely misses.
Combat squad 1 fires 3 boltguns at the chosen, nothing happens. Combat squad 1 fires a plasma gun at the hellbrute, it misses.

*Helbrute survived turn one. its shaken, but its alive.

Chaos:
I roll on the crazed table and I get a 1. Helbrute takes his two shots at the dread, but misses both. *of course he does*

Cultist squad 1 moves up and claims an objective (grav-way generator) and Cultist squad 2 claims the second objective (scater field)

the sorcerer leaves the Cultist squad and runs towards the chosen squad, stopping short.

*salt and vinegar chips were opened. All praise the Slaanesh! *

Heavy stubber shoots at combat squad 1, a marine failed his save and receives a belly full of lead.

Chosen rapid fire 6 boltguns into combat squad 1. A bolt round pierced the canister on the Flamer, causing 2 marines to be covered in burning promethium. They do not survive.

Turn 2
Dark Angels:
librarian casts both powers, everyone moves, but the dreadnought and combat squad 4 claims an objective (targeting relay). Dread fires at the helbrute but doesn't manage to do anything. combat squad 2 fire the plasma pistol and does nothing, the plasma gun causes a glancing hit. Combat squad 4 fires bolt guns at the chosen, does nothing. combat squad 3 fires boltguns and Krak missile at the sorcerer, once again, does nothing.

Combat squad 1 fires 3 bolt pistols and 1 plasma pistol, 2 boltgun chosen and the Powerfist are killed. Then they charge, over watch doing nothing and the marines make it into combat.

Chaos lord challenges the sarge, the company master takes the challenge. Chaos lord activates the murder sword and turns the company master into a fine red paste. Not before the company master stabs the chaos lord, only leaving a flesh wound though.

Chaos receive First blood and slay the warlord.

Librarian makes his attack against the chosen, murdering the remaining chosen. The chosen kill a marine, the sarge and wound the librarian. The chaos lord gains +1 T from boon.

Chaos:
Helbrute gains rage from Crazed.

the sorcerer cast endurance on the hellbrute and runs towards the chaos lord. Cultist squad 1 moves to get a better shot on the marines. heavy stubber fires and kills a marine. The rest of the Cultist fire, killing another marine. Sorcerer casts smite on the librarian *thats still in combat with the lord*, killing him. helbrute charges combat squad 2, they over watch and the plasma gun marine gets hot and dies. The helbrute kills 2 marines in combat squad 2 and the sarge misses with the Krak grenade.

Turn 3
Dark angels:
Everything moves up and combat squad 3 fires a Krak missle at the chaos lord. He back hands the missle and is completely fine. The rest fire bolt guns causing one wound.

Combat squad 4 fires the plasma cannon at the chaos lord. He drop kicks the plasma ball and is one again fine. Boltguns are fired at him, causing a wound and killing him.

The dread fires its storm bolter and the Lascannon at the sorcerer. The sorcerer takes one wound from the storm bolter.

helbrute and sarge battle and both do nothing.

(I remember the helbrute had IWND and he gains a hull point)

Sorcerer casts iron arm on himself (T5, S5)

Cultist squad 1 moves a little to get a better shot on marine squad 4. They all make their shots and nothing is done.

sorcerer casts smite on combat squad 3 and it does nothing.

Turn 4:
Dark Angels:
marine squad 3 and dread move forward. Marine squad 4 fires plasma cannon and boltguns at Cultist squad 1 and kills 8 guys. They fail their moral check and fall back 6''. The dread shoots at the sorcerer with the storm bolter and Lascannon. The sorcerer is killed with a giant sizzling hole where his chest should be. Combat squad 3 fire Krak missle and boltguns at Cultist squad 2, two are killed.

Hellbrute and sarge battle, nothing happens again.

Chaos: Cultist squad pass their moral check and move as far as they can towards the objective they ran from. Cultist squad 2 moves to hide from combat squad
*though, it doesn't make a difference*. helbrute and sarge continue to do nothing. *This is starting to get annoying*

Turn 5:
dark angles:
Dread and combat squad 3 move towards the cultists. Dread fires Lascannon and storm bolter at Cultist squad 1. Killing 2. Combat squad 3 fires boltguns and Krak missle at Cultist squad 2. They are ok and taunt the marines with vulgar thrusts, yelling 'GONE'.
Combat squad 4 fire their boltguns and plasma cannon at Cultist squad 1. Only one Cultist is killed.
Helbrute finally kills the sarge.
*about time!*

Chaos:
Cultist squad one captures their objective. *I think I forgot to make a moral check on these Cultist* Hellbrute charges toward combat squad 4 and kills one of them.

We roll to see if the game continues and it... doesn't!
*if the game had gone on for another round, the Cultist would have been pushed off the objectives.

Conclusion:
Chaos: 8VP
6 victory points from objectives
First blood
Slay the warlord

Dark angels: 7VP
6 victory points from objectives
Slay the warlord

It was a close victory (this is close for us. Chaos -me- is used to being slaughtered).

Notes:
-The DA player had forgotten that the chaos lord had a murder sword. I'm not sure why I challenged the sergeant instead of the company master, it seemed like a good idea at the time.

-It had been a very long time since there was a match were the helbrute hadn't exploded on the second or third turn and that fact that it survived a turn of S7+ shooting impressed me. Now I want to name him.

- The recent addition of the sorcerer and 5 cultists (yeah, just five) means I wasn't used to using psychic powers. Which is why I forgot to cast powers on the first turn and that the helbrute had IWND and we were unsure if the sorcerer could use powers on enemies locked in combat, so we let the dice decide.

The Eye of Terror

Few things, you can only Infiltrate infantry, not a hellbrute. Secondly you can cast powers in combat.

Other than that well done on winning with the bad half of the dv set, it ain't easy.

Thanks for that info.

Yeah, I'm not used to winning against his dark angels. Thankfully, he didn't bring his Terminators. It would have gone quite differently then.
