Every game I played with the new tau codex and shield drones on broadside this situation has happened

A unit of 1 shield drone and 1 broadside receive 2 wounds from power fist, the shield drone succeed to the invulnerable save.

Other player argue that this is a mixed armor unit because the drone has an invulnerable save ,  so the broadside must die without save and the drone also because the controller is dead

Since they both have a 2+ armour save I think that normal casualtie removal must happen and since there is 1 unsaved wound I can choose the model that receive the casualty.

I did  a search on the forum but it was the shooting rule that was discussed over and over and I have not found a winner on other thread. Since it is happening to me often if the general opinion is that the broadside should die they will return to my suitcase to gather dust like they were before the new codex.

Read the mixed armor rules carefully. At no point in time do they mention anything about majority invulnerable saves. They are only meant to handle mixed armor and mixed armor saves. The new Tau codex has two special rules covering this, so you absolutely can use that invulnerable save as manytimes as you can legally allocate wounds to it.

In your case, one wound will be allocated to the broadside and one to the sheild drone. Sounds like you will lose both models (broadside gets no save, and even if the drone makes its save the controller is dead so....)
