I like the list a lot. I think you should go all melta in Vulkan's detachment. I feel that I'm always just scraping for one more pen on a vehicle on the drop and 3 melta shots usually gets the job done. Plus, combat squadding everything means you'll have plenty of bolter fire and you can screen the meltas with them too.

Some things to try that are really nice with Vulkan are Legion of the Damned (all melta with ignores cover) which just drop any vehicle for 155 points.. And the command squad. I like Vulkan in a pod with 4 flamer/storm shield vets and an apothecary.. thats one immovable infantry wiping unit! It's a bit pricy but probably the most fun unit I've run with him in a list lol!

If you can squeeze melta bombs in on all the sgts that would be good for MCs that charge you after you drop.

Other than that, I think the list looks really good.

Thanks...
I had Vulkan riding in the 9 man pod and i was thinking of dropping the scouts and the dread for a command squad...
and i relize now i forgot mention how everything fits together

Vulkan rides in the 9 man tact drop pod
the Imperial fist captian is my star and tar... i see his squad as just giving him extra wounds
the Imperial fist devs sit behind the Aegis/ quad gun killin tanks/flyers/ and anything i want to over kill while getting buffed by Mr Inquisitor
the scouts do what scouts do and camp like a noob in CoD
the Thunderfire cannons mop up mobs and those damn pathfinders
everyone else comes down like a flamming hammer

Yeah, I gotcha. The list is nice.

If you can convert that dreadnought & scouts into a command squad it would be awesome for sure. I also think you should exchange the relic blade for a power fist since you can't get another attack out of the sword anyway while holding the shield eternal. You'll live to get your initiative 1 AP2 hits in which will be a bigger threat.

Relic Blades are pretty bad. I'd run a Thunder Hammer

The second list seems better to me. The only things I'd change now are rearranging the weapons in your tac squads so all the meltas are together, and all the flamers are together. I wouldn't mix them up in the same unit because it decreases their efficiency.

Also I'd still swap the relic blade for a power fist since it's the same points cost.

Looks good!

Ive run them that way but i find that a mix and combat squaddign them allows me to pop the tramsports and then roast the nuts inside...

What's your thinking behind a relic blade over something like a thunder hammer?

The relic blade is +2 to strength AP3 but still allows you to hit at base Int.... the power fist are x2 strenght and AP2 BUT you strike at Int 1... im not going to allow a mob strike first (good 'ol math hammer) and it also gives me a bit of anti armour against AV 11

I'd rather take a power maul over a Relic Blade.

Play tested it against a mech AM list and owned shop with the first list... tossing 3 full drop pods in his face was awesome... took a good bit of casualties but that's expected... twin thunderfire was a tad overkill...

Played a couple matches in 7th edition and rally loving the main list... the imperial fist tank hunters utterly destroyed a twin knight list by turn 3... and against a hoard list the flamers "cleansed" the board... does anyone have any suggestions...
on a side note it would be awesome if i could get my orks to run this smooth...

The Biggest issue i have are the TFC in the list. I love them so dont get me wrong on there effectiveness. However i found running TFC's with drop pod marines i was risking my guys to my own blast templates and it became annoying in many cases. The only time i really ran them was when i ran Drop pod Ironclads because they were immune to the blast.

might want to consider going with 2 flamer assault squads in Pods. making for a total of 7. plus while not as eefective vs hoards 4 more flamers add to your killing ability.
