Hey guys, I am a newb IG player and just starting out my army and I love the idea of melta-vets, here's my problem. The standard IG kit only contains a flamer and a grenade launcher as special weapons and I don't know where to get plasma guns and more importantly, meltas. I know forgeworld has moulds for those but where I live (HK) nothing gets shipped for a price I'm willing to pay (I would normally have to pay around $300 HKD for a product of the same cost online, hence I don't really order online)

I never tried greenstuff but I just want some ideas on a super simple, cheap, and decent looking conversion or item I could use to make meltas for my IG.

If I recall correctly the Cadian Platoon/Command squad box comes with 1 Melta and plasma gun so that would be a good start.

Another pointer is that if you are using Catchatan the Space Marine melta guns will also work for those guys too.

I also have done a tutorial on converting guardsmen special weapons from nothing but the contents of the standard Cadian infantry kit. Might be worth a gander if you don't want to spend more money.



There is also a host of not-melta/plasma guns made from different 3rd party companies.

The new scions also have 1 of each melta and plasma in every box. there are also metal melta and plasma blisters, and FW hostile environment melta and plasma vets.

I did a conversion using bead spacers/end caps. I basically took a flamer or bolter, clipped the magazine off and the tip. and stuck the bead on the end. Then I attached either a magazine or a backpack exhaust vent to make it look like a gas tank. Check my Gallery for images, I think I put some of it in there.

Order the melta or plasma gun sets from Forgeworld. You get 10 weapons in each pack.

GW sold melta guns and plasma guns in 5 packs. Dunno if its still available.

Buy some of this its a reusable casting medium.

Buy SM melta guns, cut off the melta part and attach to a lasgun barrel. Readily available and I think it looks better than the standard IG melt as.

I can't recommend them enough! They're much more reasonably sized for guardsmen than the GW ones.
