Since I've gotten a large percentage of my Gretchins second hand (all of them), I haven't gotten too many Runtherds in the deals. Since runtherds have the stats of normal boys, I thought I'd just make my own with some extra boy bits laying around. I'd also really like to have a bit more of a high-tech looking Runtherd since my ork horde resides on a conquered Forge World, so technological bits and gubbins are scattered about all over the place.
I wasn't able to to think of any particularly techy way to "grab things", so instead I just thought the staff could be a tri-purposed tool for the nob. A hook could be used to grab way-ward gretchins, be used to guide hot materials in the forges, and have a pistol at one end of the staff. (Highly impractical, but rule of cool for 40k, folks.)

I dug through my bits box and founds some parts that might go toward this goal of making a fancy grabbin stik, but I'm not sure how best to arrange these items on the staff. I've done two quick mock-ups in GIMP. I wanted some opinions and suggestions before I super-glued everything together. Any feed-back would be great.
Updated design.

I like the second one best.

You say that I am crazy. I say that you are right!

One quick solution would be a looted power fist (just the hand part) on the end of the pole, along with a few cables and techy bits - obviously grabby, but odd enough not to be confused with a power claw.

And grabbing some WHFB orc spear-carrying arms could be a lot less work than making individual poles and mounting them on standard ork arms.

I'd hybridize the two. Keep the power pack looking thing on the butt end, use the hook and reversed magazine on the head to have two ways of snaggin' da runtz - "by hook or by crook," as they say.

Tried something instead of the regular hook. Still messing with the over-all design of the thing. What do you guys think?

Or even simpler, have the end like a shepherd's crook? A hi-tech crook, that is, with some electrodes for shocking naughty grots.

I thought about that, but that'd be more along the lines of a Grot-prod. Maybe eventually I'll do that, but I'd really like to have some grabbin stiks, mainly due to the fact they reduce the number of grots dying in combat each round.
