Qoute: By any chance do you think swimming is an effective way of crossing the Atlantic Ocean also?

Yes, Dolphins, Whales, little fishes, and Aquaman I hear prefer it, do it effectively and often. Couldn't resist responding but I promise this is the last one out of respect for my fellow Dakkites. Personal apologies to the author for this mini-hijack. Good Batep.

Troll country

If the carnifexen are sitting in cover I am not really worried about them to be honest. Nine lascannons and some plasma goodness will easily kill at least one MC a turn.

I am going to assume that you don't consider Maxing out on a particularly good unit to be powergaming?
Ah. I see. So I was right in this instance. You actually don't know what powergaming is.

Glad we cleared that up.

Not true at all. I know a lot of Space Marine players that run around nine lascannons in their 1500 point 'take all comers' armies. They could smoke zilla Nidz

Out of curiosity, where are all 9 from. I assume 6 las/plas squads, but where are the other three from?

I was wondering that myself. Maybe 6 las/plas squads and a predator? Eitherway, with up to 4 venom cannons on the table, my prediction is that the predator will either get smoked in the first few turns or get stunned all game...lol. I really don't see 1 predator being a huge threat.

I doubt that 6-man Las/Plas can really threaten a Godzilla Nid Army, they don't have the statistical odds to shoot out the Carnifexes and the Dakkafexes will consistanly torent of fire the Lascannons off the board.

This I know from experience.

Well...they might have a chance if there is enough other good stuff, too.

Maybe a buch of assault cannons to go along with them? 6 las/plas squads only total up to 630 points or so, so it leaves a lot of room for other either rending or AP2 goodness.

Where Godzilla has you beat though is that as you exchange fire power with the Carnifexes and other fun stuff, you are generally suffering more damage than they are. Most tanks will be at the very least stunned, and most Marine Squads will start loosing effeciveness as they take casulties 9especially when your heavy weapons start falling to constant torent of fire rolls), meanwhile the wounds the Carnifex takes never limits their effectiveness, until you chew through every wound a Carnifex remaind 100 percent effective.

And this is not to mention the Geenstealers, Ravengers, Red Terrors, Flying Hive Tyrants, and gaunts that the Tyranid player has to chew up you units.

Bottom line is that a Nidzilla list has a greater chance to remain effective, while most other armies start loosing their effectiveness as casaulties mount.

I'll have to take your word for it Mahu. I don't play marines (though I'm almost finished painting my Alpha Legion), only playing DE right now.

I only have one tourney game against a Nidzilla list that was a scream/stealer list with 5 'fexes & 2 tyrants. After three turns, I had killed half of his stealers and three of the MC's (lots of massed firepower coupled with 25 str 7+ AP 2 weapons), but the scenario had sustained assault (think that's the name of the rule), so the stealers just kept coming back

Luckily, it ended due to time (previous game player wouldn't get his crap off of our table forever, so we started 20 min late), 'cuz I won on points. One more turn, and those dead stealer units would have been right back in my face and I probably would have lost on points. It's not fair when his Troops die and he gets more stealers, and when my Troops die, I get 8 point DE warriors.

hhmm as a nidzilla list player...9 times out of 10 i completely dominate take on all comers lists (cept those blasted dark eldar beat the heck out of me every fricken time...ugh)

and if im playing my gargantuan critters too it just plain gets silly...

however i got this insane blood lust and generally forget about scenarios...pffft

ive walked right over the "toughest" of armies...iron warriors...tank companies...las-plas/ass cannon lists...mech tau/eldar

theres only one list ive NEVER beaten as nids...and they no longer exist...the completely min-maxed alaitoc sniper list...ugh

a proper general in command of a nidzilla list should be able to EASILY take out 75% of his opponents...

you havn't lived till youve seen the look of horror on a necron players face when they find out they have to face nidzilla...classic

10 Man Tactical Squad vs. Dakkafex, cleanse mission (at least 18" apart), no cover, and the Marines get first turn.
Turn 1
Marines: 10 shots at carnifex
Dakkafex: moves forward and has a stroke: can't shoot or assault
Turn 2
Marines: move forward, 20 shots at carnifex
Dakkafex: trying to recover from stroke: can't move, shoot, or assault
Turn 3
Marines: 20 shots at carnifex
Dakkafex: after recovering from stroke, has explosive diarrhea: too embarrassed to move, shoot, or assault
Turn 4
Marines: 20 shots at carnifex
Dakkafex: cleaning up mess: no time to move, shoot, or assault
Turn 5
Marines: 20 shots at carnifex
Dakkafex: takes a shower: no time to move, shoot, or assault
Turn 6
Marines: 20 shots at carnifex
Dakkafex: slips in shower, lands on its head, dies.

That made me me giggle.

I only wish it were like that in game.

My turn 3, I move in and fire back.  Heavy support carni fires back at the terminators, hitting and wounding all of them with a strangler shot.  I pick out his librarian for a specific save, and he rolls the one, doing an insta kill.  He then quits the game in a huff.

I thought that you are only able to pick out a model to take a wound if you caused more wounds than there are models in the unit.

My appologies if I am mistaken.

And the funnier bit is that where 150pts of the Big Boys fail, 120pts of IG with flashlights will succeed with a turn or 2 to spare, time enough to pose for photos and mail to the local marine chapter explaining the way to do it.

Torent of fire is equal to or more.

I know, it doesn't make since, but is something to consider.

I'm sorry that "power gamer" is used as a derogatory term. How many generals would deliberately take a less effective army into battle so as to be "sporting?" All the power gamer is doing is being totally familiar with his rules and resources and selecting his army to win. When my SW are overmatched (given the opponent, the terrain and/or the objectives), I don't hold it against the "power gamer" on the other side of the board. I blame it on a set of rules that are advertised as making equivalent point selections equal but aren't really given a full wringout test before being promulgated.
As far as I'm concerned, the top general is the tournament winner. This is a war game and wars aren't won with pretty uniforms (painting), an arbitrary selection of units deemed best (composition) or making things equal for an undermatched opponent.
Good Batrep.
