I use 'em as Veterans. 50 Rambos is lame, 10 Rambos infiltrating/deep-striking and unleashing Metla-hell is pretty cool, IMHO.

Unfortunately can't find any links. I can tell you, they're smaller than a Guardsman's torso.

Hmmm, an "Ork" army of lizardmen w/eldar wpns.

I wouldn't even play on the same table with anything that silly looking.
But to each his own I guess.

I don't see anything particularly silly-looking about it, other than the fact that Lizardmen are naturally a bit silly-looking.

I like it quite a bit. The cables really do add to the look, making it seem like the weapons are a lot less selfsufficient, and thus lower tech.

I don't know about the gems on the shields, but I bet when they are painted I will see where you are going.

So here's that paint scheme. I went heavy on one side and lighter on the other (with the black).

I think I actually liked it better blended without the black, but I'd have to do another since I didn't take a WIP picture.

Maybe next weekend...

Obviously nothing but the basic scheme has been done on these.

I'm not sure how to get the nice bright color in and keep the black.

I'll probably do another test without and see what people think.

do it reverse and individualy highlight each scale....I still think the wire should wrap all the way to the front of the shield I think it would bring it's purpose into a "real" use.

So light medium black from scales down to skin then?

I tried wrapping the wire all the way around, it doesn't work very well. I also tried another 'bump' with wires going to the shield, but it made the model look busy.

I'll see if I can get the rest of the figs put together and cleaned up, then I'll get to work on the paint scheme and see what happens.

yeah and If your going for the frog look I would only piant clusters of scales black say 4-5 max, skip a scale (that would be blue) and make another cluster of black...

I did that. Didn't look right. Looked like I was being lazy.

I think I'll do a simpler scheme and see what I like, then see what ya'll think.

To be honest, those lizardmen conversions look surprisingly good, although I must say that the tau - weapons strike me as a bit odd...
But hey, at least they're not gauss flayers!

A hell pistol or hellgun on the other hand might look a little better with the lizards. As an added bonus, they look like the lasguns you can find in most IG sprues. I think I spotted a couple of those on the pics you posted, though...

In case you're looking to spend a few more buck on weapon sprues (although with over 600 big ones already spent I seriously doubt you do, I know I wouldn't) I'd suggest some dark eldar blasters with the spiky blade thing cut off to pass as a regular shoota, a big shoota or even a rokkit launcha. The weapon looks neat and seems like a fit for lizardmen.
While on the subject of dark eldar weapons, in case you're planning on getting some close combat weapons, the dark eldar lashes look pretty good too, although I guess they'd be a pain to try and fit on "ze lézards".

The blue paint job is looking very good. You might opt to go for a deathskull - sort of list spotting multiple units of lootas or flash gitz. It'd add some orky fluff to you Slann - like army and make it easier to pass off as orks in case someone is REALLY whiny about WYSIWUG, but I guess in that case they'd refuse to play against orks that look like lizardmen... :S

I'm looking forward to seeing a couple models painted and finished. Keep up the good job.

I am going to brutally honest. I think the idea is poor and mostly a joke. By the looks of the models, especialy the to trukks, it looks lazy. And for me, to make the army work, the conversions and paint job would have to be stellar, and at this point both fall short.

More power to you to have an army with a theme you like, but I'll tell you, the majority of gamers would be upset and diasapointed to play against it.

I suggest you come up with alternative for the trukks... is it just going to be lizards in orky trukks? I know you can do much better.

Been thinking about that alot, actually.

The trukks might hit the road, as it were.

The two don't blend together at all really.

So, what to do what to do....

No stegadons. I hate the GW model.

Sold my old Lizard army primarily because of the two stegadons I had in it.

Personally I would think a Lizardman-esque army would fit Tyranids rules better as a Proxy list, I do agree the Ork list used to be basic to allow for lots of 'proxy alien' armies at GTs.

I have seen multiple 'freebooterz' armies at GTs based on orks (mostly speed freeks) where the models were random alien species from the 40k universe. One was even a full squat army based on speed freekz.
