I look for risky avatars on google at work all the time and I don't see what the problem is. http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&um=1&sa=1&q=%22risky+avatar%22&aq=f&oq=&aqi=&start=0 Seriously though. Do you really work in places of employment where you are monitored so closely that someone would notice a 100x100 image alongside a giant block of text and other images? I'm not trying to be snide; I'm genuinely curious to hear that there are places like that out there. Even when my coworkers come over to talk to me, I can have dakka up on the other screen and no one says a word, though I generally minimize it out of politeness to the person (Never know when lurking in the P&M forums is going to get you pictures of naked daemonesses). And yes, about half my coworkers are female, and I get walk ups quite often.

I am sorry but when I started seeing avatar pics of all these christmas eye candies popping up all over Dakka, I just started laughing. Brings new meaning to " nerd lust".
Seriously, I haven't laughed so hard since Balders Gate came out for PS 2, what with all the female elves with the big boobs that jiggled for no apparent reason.
Still makes me laugh.

I am the "GIT" that brookem was talking about. If someone walks by my computer and sees a racy pic it immediately makes them wonder why I have that up on my computer at all, and what kind of site I am on that has pictures like that. If someone walks by and sees a giant wall of text they think that that is boring and they no longer care. If they see a picture of some "toys" thatare painted they think I am silly an weird, no harm done.
I can tell you that the US has a much more strict (too strict) sens of what you can and can't do at the work place. Looking at scantily clad women is not one of the things you can do.

If its that much of an issue, don't browse Dakka at work - simples.

Just out of interest and don't know it causes the same problem... but I wonder how many Facebook profile pictures are of a similar look? I know when looking through Facebook & MySpace there are plenty of baps bubbling over, do people bat an eye lid then?

Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.

Unfortunately the US is still stuck in the age of the puritans, who have had their prudishness taken up by the religious right. It's fine to watch SAW I- VI but for God's sake, don't let a kid see a naked tit (unless of course it's getting hacked off by a crazy serial killer, then it's A-OK!).
I loved the shampoo commercials I saw on TV when I lived in France... If the commercials were like that in the US I'd watch them instead of skipping over them.

You are there to work.

Aww... Too bad for him. Actually, I think this isn't a work issue at all. I think this some henpecked guy being told that he can't look at pretty girls on the internet, not even accidentally or incidentally. And he's so whipped that he actually complies. I'd tell him to grow a pair and tell her that he'll look at whatever he likes. ____ wyomingfox wrote:I am sorry but when I started seeing avatar pics of all these christmas eye candies popping up all over Dakka, I just started laughing. On the other side of things: who comes to Dakka Dakka to look at pretty girls? I come to this site when I'm a work because I can usually rest assured that it contains no images that would could motivate a complaint against me. If I wanted pretty girls on the intarwebz I'd go visit Abby Winters. Fat nerds playing with toy soldiers though? Dakka Dakka, all the way.
Also, thank you to the person who told me I just had to restart my browser.

I think that the point you're missing is that skantily clad women are appropriate for the beach, and not for an office environment, particularly one where people may disagree on their appropriateness. It's not the appropriateness that is at issue, it's that conflicts may arise over disagreements about appropriateness.

What is blocked at work:
40K Online.
Warseer.
Librarium Online.
Bolter and Chainsword.
Tau Online.
Bell of Lost Souls.
Google Images.
Any other sort of blogs.
Strangely enough, what is allowed:
DakkaDakka
I turned my Avy and Sigs off at work, no biggie.

This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

See, its that simple. Instead of being a humbug and trying to ruin the fun for everyone else on Dakka, just turn your damn avatars and sigs off on the work cpu.
**EDIT**
Wait a second, You are worried cause you can't look at Dakka while you are at work? Shouldn't you be working instead anyway?!?!

This discussion reminds me of this one guy on an old forum I used to visit. His avatar was randomly selected each time you loaded it from a pool of dozens, each one an animated pair of boobs. None of this "think of the children!" lark over there.
