Why are UK Gts 6 rounds and US 5? .. Metric system or something?!?

Because they play at a lower points value which makes getting 6 games in in a weekend more likely?

I played in some of the GW GTs, and at 1700+ points, and 2.5 hours or so per game, you're not getting the games finished, and 4 games on a saturday is brutal. You really can only play 2 on sunday since people need to travel.

Shep, agreed with everything you said.

I also read about a lot of the 1850 tournies only getting 3 turns in in 2.5 hours, either due to slow-play, hordes, or who knows what. 1500 points makes for a quicker game.

I also agree with Reecius that smaller (1000 point) tournies would be a blast. You'd really have to make some tough choices. And i do realize that the "meta" changes. There's still overpowered stuff, its just different overpowered

The Irish GT was 1750 and six games. Three on Saturday followed by a beer run and table quiz and three on Sunday. Two and a half hours per game and of the 50 competitors I don't think anyone had a problem getting in six full games (what? No sports score to stop slow-playing!!??).

Interesting.

Would be great to hear more thorough reviews of the lists used.

I was gutted I missed the final this year. Qualified in 7th place with Guard in heat 2 (thanks again Blackmoor for the ticket) but work got in the way of flying back last weekend.

Shep hits the nail on the head. As someone who regularly plays in UK and US GT events I appreciate the fact that I'm going to be playing well thought out and tested missions when I go back to the UK and while there is of course an amount of luck involved in terms of opponents its mostly all about playing. Unlike last years Adepticon Championship where I lost the second game because it was a random mission that ended up massively benefitting my opponent

I enjoy the US events as well but the randomness of the soft scoring means that its a different type of event.

The ETC event this year should be a lot of fun. The restrictions on army build and the use of standard only missions should be a great leveller for everyone.

Oh, and thanks for the kind words Mannahin. Reds8n is just jealous of my awesome playing ability
