These pigs are NOT pigs. I see things about the faces that ruin the piggy imagery.
1. Too long
2. Why is there no hair on the face?

Well, to me really they are only boars because they are called boarz, and they have boar bodies. Or maybe this is just me getting annoyed how poorly my favourite animal was represented.

They are wild boars not domesticated pigs. There are several varieties of boar that have very long snouts.

While I like the naked faces they are a little off putting. I think once you make them appropriately fur-colored they'll be less jarring.

Among the pics of singles they have one with a light brown snout. Looks much nicer to me.

Boars look good and even better yet come with normal Orc riders and not savage orcs. Will get four boxes at least.

Not a fan of either. I also think that the vomiting is one detail too far. The more cartoony direction GW is taking is still leaving me unconvinced.

The boar's noses are incredibly phallic. I otherwise like all the models though.

Looking very cool, I really like how the new river trolls look.

I think they both look great. The boars have great energy, almost as if they're just as eager as da boyz to get stuck in. The trolls, simply, are outstanding.

Thank you terrainguy for those links. That seems to have calmed the seas of "they don't look like pigs"

My opinion? Both of the new sets look amazingly fantastic. I'll be doing O&G for sure.

The trolls, boars, and boyz riding them are fantastically sculpted. Active, dynamic, and with a boatload of character and style. At first I was lamenting the fact that the old river troll metals were no longer available on the site (as they are still nice), but these new plastics made me forget about the metals faster than I forget about the ex-wife.

The boars have the same issue that the minotaur plastics have - a somewhat questionable studio paint scheme. The minotaur plastics are pretty decent when seen unpainted, and when painted as not to emphasize their initially balloonish-appearing muscle masses, as the studio paint scheme for them had done, they look pretty damned good.

The trolls certainly didn't get tarred with that brush though - they look stellar! I'm starting a small O and G fantasy army soon, and both of these plastic sets are making a welcomed appearance.

Did Brian Nelson sculpt there? I think perhaps...

Bravo. Bravo on all counts.

Those trolls are awesome, a very nice upgrade to a very old model... lots of nostalgia for me there.

Boarboyz, excellent except for the sadly expected questionable head sculpts, that being said, very easily solved with a little gs fur or plasticard head armor, all is not lost.

I am also sure a diff paintjob may have suited them better, darker, black faces calling less attenttion to the baldness and proportions.

Still, overall win in my book. I am curious though, is this it for the orcs and goblins release? Seems a bit underwhelming for the entire may release...

I find that the boars are a huge upgrade over the previously available boars. The Orcs look fantastic. Honestly, I don't really like the trolls much. They look more fat than menacing.

I agree with majortom. If this is the big ballyhooed Orcs and Goblins release, I am very dissapointed. I have been holding off on buying more minis until the release. I didn't want to buy trolls or even boar boyz. If this is it, I will be very sad.

Dang Red, you've been sitting on pics of these for ages. I remember when you first dropped hints of vomiting trolls months ago! You're a man that knows more than you're telling us.

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

I actually like them Scott. They're plastic, which tempts me to finally start a Feral Orks army.

The old ones were (A) metal, and (B) too stunty for me.

The old boars weren't metal. They were plastic and had no variable, but I liked the shape a lot better.

Am I the only one surprised at how cheap the boar boyz are o_O? I did not expect them to be that cheap.

Both look great and I'm now sorely tempted to create some feral ork cyboars...

I'm actually happy with both of these. Those actually do look like boars. They have the typical GW/cartoon "feel" but they retain enough actual boar characteristics that it's believable yet consistent with the setting. The trolls are just very nice sculpts and much better than the old metal river trolls.

Better paintjob on the boars will fix the problems. I like them. (I've always hated the old boars, and the metal hybrids were a pain).
I'll probably buy a couple of boxes, when I'm not broke.
Like the trolls too, of course- lovely looking aquatic beasties.
Fantasy has always been kind of cartoony, I don't mind the style of these minis.
Fingers cross for a new O&G book sometime soonish.

Put an old Playskool piggy next to one of those.

Now, honestly tell me they arent an improvement.

And the trolls look like fat fish people. But might have some cool conversion potential.

The old river trolls were plenty detailed and quite nice actually.

I never got them as I thought (and still think!) that the Stone Trolls are just better looking...

The biggest thing these new trolls have going for them is that they are plastic!

I agree the old trolls were pretty cool. The stone trolls were always my favorites as well, they look so menacing. I dont know why the old river trolls didn't catch my attention as much. I think for me, i always found they reminded me of a fat hula man with bad teeth.

I am fairly positive that the trolls were sculpted by Seb Perbet. Who IMO was the best investment GW could make for hiring and training as a new sculptor...his Skaven are brilliant, and I see the same design style in these trolls.
