Hmmmmm hard choice really I like Total Ahilation damn good for an old game#2. Rome:total war was pretty cool sept for the AI#3. And Company Of Heroes is a true favourite for me especially for the mod Blitzkrieg which made it more realistic#1.

I'm really surprised more people haven't said Company of Heroes. To me that's the only RTS that requires you to know and learn some real military strategy and tactics.
Unlike the star and war craft games which in my opinion are just hot key memorization and spam games.

Home world is also tops in my book. best use of an xy and z axis i've played.

CoH really is a classic. I've got it and all of it's expensions and I absolutely love it. The only thing I don't like about it is how prone to bugs/crashes the map editor and custom maps happen to be. I made one map that has a Nazi Precinct built into the side of a mountain in the South East, with a railyard on the South/Southwest side and a training camp on the West/Northwest side. The base perimeter is surrounded by about a Km or two deep of farms and woodlands, with a small town in the northern corner and 88/quad AA emplacements littered all over the place and placed on strategic areas of the precinct itself.

I wasn't done, however, and since installing Tales of Valor I haven't been able to work on it as the file has gone missing. Despite still being able to -play- the map. I also made another map of a city, where only the outermost edges were destroyed. The rest was pristine. I get very little (if any) lag when playing it, but after about 5 minutes it just crashes out of the blue.

Overall though, CoH is an awesome game despite these problems

Company of heroes really is a good game and you can have games that won't last for hours all the time (not like thats a bad thing) and have heaps of fun even if your loosing.

I hate how they removed the base building, or limited it rather.

True that. Multiplayer just is too small as well. They should have made like first 1 or like real 40K in my opinion.

My fav mod (Offtopic) is the Ork Swarm. It pretty muchs nerfs the orks in all ways... but numbers. And since they are my favorite race to play as, its like a green tide

Also, I believe that the inquisition mod works, but only if you get a valid download site and the right patch, I'll see what I can find when I get home.

I'm a real fan of Close Combat (IV). I like how my men are not all accepting automatons but actually tire, have their nerve broken, flee, go suddenly berserk etc. etc. Covering fire, cross fire, ambushes, it all works!! And it's fun to try and stop (delay is more likely) a load of allied troops with just a few crappy Ost troops.

Close Combat 2 is better in my opinion, if only to fight on own soil.

Base building was slowed for half of the forces we had involved in DOW. Marines, Eldar, Chaos...they don't need no stinkin' bases to launch their assaults from.

Agreed, most of my 40k and RTS friends prefer the first one for mainly this reason as well.

DOW2 is way too limited and predictable as a multiplayer RTS. Had a fun single player though if you like Space Marines.

But what happens when that assault fails and you have no defense when a green tide is coming at your base

EDIT: If you mean realism, I agree 100% with you. What I am saying is gameplay wise.

I dunno. There's just something unique about having so many guardsmen in one area that you can't actually see the ground. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. Even as they scream in pain.

And Karon, how could you!? How could you quote me in your sig and not let me know so that I can up my "officially quoted" sig count in a glorious moment of self-absorbedness!

I'm kidding. I caught you. I have eyes like Ninja.

I prefer a rinnengan. Going back towards the topic a bit I wonder if they will ever make a Naruto rts. There's enough storyline and villages to make a unique and interesting game. Plenty of options for heroes to be added into the mix.

Hanging oneself may be considered preferable to being forced to experience a Naruto RTS.

Meh. I read the manga, can't stand the anime due to the voices. If Halo can have an rts so can Naruto. If done right it would be good, unfortunately if they make one it will be dumbed down but I can still hope. :3

I read the manga too, and I still think it's a horrible idea. And if they made it anyway related to the manga/anime, any single hero will take out anything on it's own.
