Any reason or explanation for this statement? Nids don't use hyperdrives, so Interdictors have no effect on them.

Once again, read the current Tyranid codex.
The "Narvhal", the critter that actually propels the Tyranid fleets through the bigger distances of space, relies on harnessing a planet's gravity field to "pull" the fleet towards it. They cannot do that once they get closer to a solar system--which is why they can make huge gains going across the gulf of space, but then slow to a crawl as they approach a system.

And once again; Interdictors do NOT actually generate a gravity field. They generate something which LOOKS like a gravity field to SW sensors, thus freaking out the ship's computer and causing the safety interlocks to drop the ship out of hyperspace.
This would have exactly zero effect on a Hive Fleet.

Flak armor I could believe, MAYBE. But in the movies-- the highest canon in the SW universe-- the equivalent to a common laspistol can penetrate Stormtrooper Armor and kill their soldiers in a single shot. Even flak armor can stop a lasbolt.

Yes, it would be equivilant to a 5+ armour save.
Han Solos pistol is known to be heavily modified, but i would say its Str5 AP5 at the best.
Dark Trooper Mk1 would have a 4+ armour save. Mk2 and Mk3 would have a 3+
Back on Intradictors: Yes, its a Fake Gravity field. now you might say "it prevents ships from leaving as well as pulling them out" well that because the ships safety system is still freaking out. and Hyperdrives take time to reset once they pull out of Hyperspace.

A gravity well projector is not a hyperdrive "trick" It projects the gravity mass of a planet. You have ignored this fact.
In other threads you have ignored ANYTHING that goes again the 40k universe. So much for objectivity huh?
But much like the other threads... the 40k are the bestest most powerful EVAH!
It is hilarious how the 40k supporters INGORE everything that is pointed out in these threads, and the 40k races are so over the top nothing will compare.
Weapons, tech, ships, armor Nothing ever work as well as the 40k equivalent... Even when PROVED completely erroneous.
Have fun with posting whatever you decide to make up. This has become a really poor joke.

Now, let's get back on topic shall we?
Tyranids are far deadlier than the Yuzan Vong (or however you spell their name... never could get it right). They aren't trying to transform planets, they're not from this galaxy (The YV are from the same galaxy as the rest of the SW species), and if you look at the galaxy graphics you can get a huge idea on just how large the Tyranid threat is.
Behemoth alone is almost as large as one of the arms of the galaxy.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Vong
The Yuuzhan Vong ("Children of Yun-Yuuzhan", also called the Chosen Race, and sometimes incorrectly abbreviated to Vong, which implied that one was disowned by one's family and one's gods) were a sentient species which nearly destroyed the New Republic, and were responsible for the deaths of nearly 365 trillion sentients.
The Yuuzhan Vong and their Chazrach slaves were among the few alien species known to originate outside the galaxy (the only known others being the Kwa, Silentium, and Abominor). A typical Yuuzhan Vong resembled a Human in form, though they were taller and heavier than the average Human and had less hair on their heads. The Yuuzhan Vong were religious zealots, who viewed mechanical technology as blasphemy. Their technological innovations were genetically engineered and purely organic. Additionally, the Yuuzhan Vong deeply respected pain to the point of masochism, and strove to improve their physical capabilities through organ grafting. Such grafting was a status symbol within Yuuzhan Vong society.
Can't find the map of the Vong assault right now. But this shows that the Yuuzhan Vong came from outside the galaxy. The point of assault were similiar IIRC.
Also There is no way ALL nid fleets would attack the same place at the same time. It just would not happen.
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Gravity_well_projector
A gravity well projector was an apparatus similar to a tractor beam. Gravity well projectors were used to create interdiction fields. They projected artificial gravity wells, simulating the gravity shadow of a planet (or other celestial body) and impeding a ship's motion through hyperspace or open slash in the space like black holes (They were used in the war with the Yuuzhan Vong). The main function of any Interdictor-class ship was to use this effect to foil hit-and-run tactics and keep outmaneuvered enemies from escaping, but throughout history many other tactics utilizing the technology were developed.
Automatically Appended Next Post: In reply to the comments about laser vs blaster.
Coherent light (las gun) vs Particle beams
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Blasters
Blasters were a considerable improvement over the archaic laser design. Instead of a coherent beam of laser-heated plasma, the blaster fired a highly compressed, focused high-energy particle beam that was very deadly to most creatures. The energy that made up the blaster bolt depended on the type of blaster being used.
The less common blaster was a plasma based design, like those used by the Grand Army of the Republic. Plasma-based blasters were effective against all targets, but even more so against droids because of the nature of plasma as a superheated, ionized gas. Droids were vulnerable to ion energy, so ion weapons were a natural choice against a droid army. This explains the use of the BlasTech DC-series in the Clone wars.
In plasma-based blasters, a high-energy gas (tibanna gas, for example, used in the BlasTech DC-series) would move from the gas chamber into another chamber where it was altered into a plasma state. It was then released from a magnetic "bottle" effect through the collimating components. This turned the mass of plasma gas and energy into a coherent energy beam as a coherent energy bolt of light and plasma. This combination of light and plasma formed the deadly bolt fired from a blaster.
The more common type was the blaster that fired a high energy particle beam that was more deadly to humanoids and other biological targets than superheated plasma (which was quite deadly anyway), but it was still effective enough against droids to put a B1 battle droid down and keep it down. Particle-beam types were also more efficient because they used less blaster gas to produce the beam than is necessary to form a plasma bolt, as plasma, as a state of matter, requires a far greater amount of energy to produce.
In particle-beam based blasters, like the E-11 used by stormtroopers,

Prove it.
Also, Tyranids have their own plasma weaponry, which is shown to be much more effective than blasters have been shown to be in the various movies. Pretty much unless you're in an X-Wing, the Falcon, or wielding a lightsaber, you're not gonna get much done

@Havoc
there is no way an Intradictor actually creates an actual Gravity field as strong as a planet.
if it did 2 things would happen.
1) the Intradictor would become the center of that gravity field.
2) any GE ships within several thousand kilometers would be drawn towards the Intradictor at alarming speeds.
the result would be severe damage or destruction of the escorting GE fleet and the certain destruction of the Intradictor.
unless the GE ships are somehow immune to the effects of gravity(highly unlikely)
even if they were(by some sort of anti-gravity generator) they would only be able to use laser and Ion cannons to destroy an incoming fleet as any missiles or Torpedoes would most certainly be affected by the Grav field.
if GE fleets are prevented from using their longest ranged(and most effective) weapons to destroy whatever they pulled out of Hyperspace then they would simply be offering themselves up to the Nid fleet they were trying to destroy.
other evidence that the Nids will win is that they are visable on a Galactic scale(thank you for the visual Melissa ), The fact that their fleets are dense enough to create a gravitational pull stronger then most stars suggests a invasion that the GE couldn't imagine.
every force user in the Galaxy would feel the approaching enemy. they would feel no malice. no hate. only a ravenous hunger, a desire to feed and gorge and they would shake in fear before the sheer size of it.
truth be told i haven't heard of another Sci-fi universe that comes close to the sheer size and scale of the 40K one. thats one of the reasons i like it so much. Star wars is the closest one as far as size goes, but it is still an order of several magnitudes off. even the Yhuzon Vong are only winning against the New Republic by enough to feel confident.
i will grant the Vong and Nids are similer in that they are both completely Organic as to their tech, but the Nids are on such a massive scale a to make the Vong look like a tiny threat.

Let's think what would happen if an Interdictor could yank 'Nids out of the Grav-tunnel. The current theory as to what happens then is that the GE destroys the 'Nids. I say that there are several critical flaws in this plan.
1) Scale. From What I have read, Interdictors will measure their area of Influence in km. 'Nids measure theirs in Light years. So, the GE would get the drop on a few dozen Tyranid ships. However, the vast majority of the Hive fleet, even of those that would call themselves nearby, would be free to hammer the GE Fleet.
2) Tactics. A lot of the GEs proponents seem to think tyranids are mindless, and will casualy walk into that trap. Well, a hive fleet makes Thrawn look like an idiot. They might get hammered by that trick once. Then, the fleet creates a new tactic, say, sending picket forces of Drones and Krakens a short distance ahead of the main fleet. When the interdictors grab these, they hammer them. Then, the main fleet, warned of the trap, arrives in force a few minutes later. The Imperials find themselves duking it out with Super-Star-Destroyer sized Hiveships, as well as Krakens and Drones comparable to Victory class destroyers.

QFT.
The Tyranid Hive-Mind is immensely clever, as it happens, hence why it forces the evolution of certain biomorphs for certain jobs. This is demonstrated in one of the Ultramarines Omnibus books (the one set on Tarsis Ultra) when the Tyranids fall for a trap the Imperial Navy sets, only to immediately come up with a solution for it so that the next time, it's the IoM who get nuked to all hell. I doubt you could simply use one tactic on them over and over again, as they are very adaptable. It's a fool who thinks the Hive Mind is so easily out-thought.

Do you actually believe the crap you post?
No attack just a simple fact. Your argument is utterly useless, there is no debate with a fanboi.
Last response to you Buddy.

Strongest armor (Impervious to anything that can be thrown at them... except other 40k weapons)
best shields (again impervious to anything)

Anyways, before this degenerates further into a flame war, Havoc, do you have anything to say that would advance the conversation, preferably with support, or are you just trolling?

LOL... No one that has come out on the Nids side has had any support for the statement they have made... not ONE link. SW supporters have to have massive support that will be ignored... Argued over and just dismissed.
Seems to be that the nids supporters are the ones that are "trolling".
Give me a break.
