The only reason I say this is because of the size of the syringe in that drawing. To me, it seems more like a tiny scarab-helper for a Haemonculi or something. Yeah, it fits the description, but it just appears too small in my opinion. Just saying.
Either way, I'm not sure how I feel about these new kits. Part of me was really excited to do so much converting - something I've never done on that scale. And waiting for new kits would mean the army would take longer to complete. But getting new, beautiful kits would be pretty awesome...

The rumour is that the Storm Raven is going to come before the GK release, as part of a post-Christmas "buy our big, shiny models" release.

I'm not sure about this. It seems to be partially contradicted. Based on the comments Jes, who I'd call a more primary source, doesn't seem to think the flyers will necessarily be part of the second wave. This also doesn't seem to be enough to push DE to "90%" of everything being released.
Aside from the 4 above units that still need models: Cronos, Grotesques, Wracks, Beastmasters, Scourges, Haemonculi, Succubi, Archon Court, and any special characters.
The cronos and talos are likely the same kit. Beastmasters will probably just be blisters of the beasts to accompany a Hellion box. Haemonculi and Succubi would be blisters as well. If GW cares enough to have designed plastic Wracks to hang onto raiders, than it seems very likely ther will be plastic.

Yeah. For Servitors. Fair enough.
Adeptus Mechanicus =/= Servitor Army. The Skitarii are the Tech-Guard, and not an army of automatons.
Of course, they could change that (no fluff is sacred when it comes to selling new models), but I don't see why.

Well HBMC, I imagine you'd see both as troop choices, but from GW's stand point Techpriests with servitors would be the more unique component that would get greater emphasis, while Skitarii are a variant of IG.
I think GW's thought process for a AdMech list will depart from the concept most homebrewed lists have taken. Where most make the army a mix and match of IG and SM units first and then add other units in. That GW will make it a collection of "DiVince"-esque eccentric Techpriests each with their own science projects and inventions. That instead of higher quality IG tanks or SM tanks, you have some prototype that a techpriest built. With units in the vein of servitors and thunderfire cannons where a techpriest must stand in attendance. There would still likely be those other IG/SM elements just with less emphasis than some homebrews I've read.

StraightSilver wrote:The problem with the plastic Sisters of Battle is indeed the cloth robes on the sleeves as has been stated before, but also the hair strangely enough. One of the particularly tricky aspects of the Dark Eldar ws getting the hair on the Wyches right, as if you have hair flowing in one direction it makes posing more difficult, as everything needs to flow the same way. This suggests that any new SOB figures we see will be much more dynamic. He also said that shoulder pads had been giving them grief, as they want flowing script on them and that is presenting problems too.
I don't understand this. Robes and sleeves seemed to have been done on Dark Angels, and page boy style haircuts on Blood Angels. The key is just to have the flow slightly away from the body (usually from front to back and away from center), but not overly pronounced in any direction. They are not in a windtunnel after all. As for scripts, it seems like small raised (or incised) lettering would not be complicated, but scrollplates would be even easier.

In plastic those sorts of details are a real pain. With metal models in rubber molds you have a little bit of play to remove the cast model. With plastic you have to remove the parts by pulling it out in a single direction with little or no play in other directions. Robes and flowy bits in the type of quantities SoB are more of problem since there is more surface area and wraping has a high likely hood of parts fighting each other in pulling the part from the mold cavity. Thats friction and damaging pull. It still doable it just means they have to give more attention to laying out the mold. Marine componenet might generally have 3 or 4 orientations that would work, but flowy cloth bits might have only 1. Thats partially for the above and partially how the hot plastic flows into the mold cavity. So when you add it all up its number of areas that all require a little extra attention adding up to more time than normal.

Sleeves weren't done on Dark Angels in plastic, nor Black Templars. The closest I can think of is the High Elf Prince on Dragon kit, and even then the sleeves aren't cloth but chainmail.

You can't have "undercuts" on models or they are impossible to remove from the molds. It's why one piece models are basically flat in their poses. Parts that would cause undercuts have to be cast separately and assembled by the model builder, which is why as the models have gotten more dynamic the number of parts has increased and the number of one-piece models has decreased.

oh yes! I cant wait! Im so damn happy that GW have come so far from where it was when I first began collecting! Their plastic lineup is getting increasingly more impressive and the addition of so many models really gives everyone the chance to personalize their army and unites right down to each model. I am enthralled with the new DE lineup and cant wait for them to start revamping others races...in particular the desperately needed necrons!

I'd say that wracks will be plastic. because they can become a troop chooise. plus crono/talos is possible too that would cover the plastic heamocullus coven (they already have kabalith and wych theme plastics).
further more GW makes plastic sets if they expect too sell a lot of thosse models or when they are too big for metal. this is because the mold for plastic models are cheap too make but are expensive too cast.
and metel molds are expensive too create but are cheap too cast (or the other way arround i forgot)
this info i got from mister Calvatorre and Forge World dudes.
but thats my guess

The more I look at the pictures of Grotesques I can't help but feel there is a strong likelyhood they will be plastic, especially if they follow the pictures. They all have a spine that stick up from their lower back, arches out, and then join back in at the base of neck and making a bit of a donut hole gap, which wouldn't lend itself to metal models.
@fatty: Metal models are cheap to mold and generally cheap to cast, just less so than plastic. Most of the difference in cost comes from the volume of metal models made being less, thus fewer models have absorb more up front costs.

I know I want Wracks. . .like 60 of 'em. Trying to convert that many models would make me cry, nightly, as I toiled away. Grotesques won't be plastic. A model that big and expensive in points, like an ogryn or those large lizard men things, are almost always metal. And really f#$king expensive to buy.

Vampire count crypt ghouls are cheap for starting wracks. You could mix and match with a box set of warriors or wyches and probably end up with 30 with a little creativity.
For Grotesques, there are plastic minotaurs and rat ogres you can use as a large humanoid base.

I've seen some Grotesque conversions made from Rat Ogres. . .somewhere. . .now I can't remember. I had looked into some conversion starters for Wracks. Somethings that I've run into that could work are AT-43 ONI Zombies, some German WWII Zombies from the warstore, and Chaos Marauders. The Marauders start topless and you can shave down their faces, add some green stuff to make the blinders, add some scarrification to their torsos with a hobby knife and green stuff some stitches. My only issue is that they look very burly in comparrison to a body modified, emaciated but lithe and ripped, near zombie, space elf.

I'm planning to use Kings of War Zombies for Wrack conversions. Automatically Appended Next Post: And I'm personally hoping for plastic Scourges. They'd be really difficult to convert and metal just wouldn't give us the full range of options, or dynamic poses. Wracks could be made in metal fairly easily, due to limited number of possible poses and limited weapon options.

Exactly. Scourges pretty much can't be done without a plastic kit,due to their wide range of weapon options. Wracks are a very static unit,composition-wise,by comparison. With Wracks, you just do a 5 man box with 3 standard models, one with a Liquifier, and an Acothyst. The only Wrack model that anybody would have to worry about doing a conversion/kitbash for is the Acothyst, versus pretty much the entire unit for Scourges if they came in metals.

i think the scourges will get a plastic kit but not right now. i strongly suspect the wracks because it makes sense.
you can make a wyhce cult army with the new models
you can make a kabillithe army with new models
you can make an outcast army with the new models
but you cant make a coven army. heamocullus make wracks troop. o no now i will have too buy a complete metal army but for half the money i can make a wyche army lets go that way. plus if there is a talos/cronos set, a heamoculus blister , grotesque blisters (you guys are right way too big for a plastic kit) on the way. then i suspect there will be plastic wracks as there is a already a lot of metal in the model range.

Samus is probably the main reason I'm into gaming. It was awesome having such a badass female lead back in those days. For those of you that aren't old enough to actually have played the original Metroid she may not seem like much, but for me especially as a female gamer she was awesome to have.
Speaking of which-- female leads, I mean-- I just might make a wych cult army if I can convince people to let me buy their female wych models off of them.

She's 1-dimensional and a video game character, that's 2 degrees of poor characterization. She's as empty as Master Chief, both kill aliens and doesn't afraid of anything, and that's about it. Shallow. Anyway super OT.
