Another pic of the HPA, now with wheel. The position doesn't make any sense too me, as the wheel goes into the body, up to the spine

I'll admit the head looks better without the clutter.

Tretch and the new Warplightning cannon are a dissapointment to me though, (The model is a perfect plague catapult, but IMHO the older cannon looked more, cannon-y)

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

I rather like it, but after seeing the new Ikit Claw model, I've only got eyes for him

Looking for fun articles on painting, tactics and wargaming? Are you after a new regular blog to follow? Are you a bit bored with nothing better to do?

If the answer to any of the above is 'well, I guess' you could probably do worse than read my blog! Regular wargaming posts, painting and discussions

Hack it off at the waist, mount it on a Defiler or Soulgrinder Chassis for extra nurgley goodness.

... or don't hack it off and add the soulgrinder legs to all of the body

Looking at the sprue now and I have a few further thoughts...

1. There are a few joins once the body is put together, so although the fit is fairly clean, you will still need green stuff to hide those tell tale gap lines (I saw these quite clearly on the store model on Friday).

EDIT - Scratch that, there are loads of gaps lines. All fairly subtle maybe, but they would be visible enough when the model is painted.

2. The bottom right arm and the dwarf ruin are almost separate pieces (unlike say, the dragon claw and rock in the High Elf dragon kit). If you wanted to use the ruin for something else, I think this would be feasible with very little trimming and I don't think the arm would look daft on its own

EDIT - After further examination, you would need to trim off the claw attached to the dwarf ruin and glue it to the hand. The hand would still be left with a small area of flat surface (where it would have joined onto the stone), but this is fixable with a minor amount of green stuff work or maybe by replacing the dwarf ruin with something else like a branch from the warhammer wood.

3. As with many GW kits these days, there are a fair few flimsy parts. The greater level of detail is applaudable, but these bits risk being broken or bent as you remove them from the sprue. Care will be needed!

4. There are 10 tiny (i.e. genuine size in Warhammer scale) rats on the sprue that can be used to decorate bases of other models in your army. Tiny rats can also be seen on the engine part of the model.

5. I love this kit

EDIT - But I would liked to have seen a few more options like a rat skull head or warp fire thrower attachment. I'm liking the skaven range, but ideally the HPA should have been launched alongside a Rat Ogre kit with interchangeable parts. That said, I don't think conversion work between this kit and the IOB Rat Ogres would be overly difficult and I might give it a go with the spare arms/heads.

Not a Skaven player,or even a WHFB player.

But this still looks cool,I'd rather an option for no steampunk bits and have an all "Organic" beast.(natural doesn't seem to fit,or even organic for that matter)

I might wait to see if anyone makes a nice interesting THING with the kit, then I might get it for the fun of customisation.
